As a practicing internist, I have depended on Dr. Kathleen Fink to accurately diagnose and treat an assortment of complex medical problems of my patients for more than 20 years. She is an outstanding diagnostician and always comes up with the correct diagnosis and management plan.. She is a most caring physician and treats all patients as if they were members of her own family. Because she is so wonderful, on many occasions I’ve chosen Dr. Fink to treat me and members of my family as well. A physician who brings disrepute to the profession of medicine. Unethical, complete disregard for patient welfare, and greedy - only cares about $. Wonder how she is still practicing.

I had a very bad experience with this doctor. I'd had a serious neck injury, was in a lot of pain. I saw her about two or three years after the injury. The MRIs clearly showed damage, and some doctors had recommended surgery for my spine. She discouraged the surgery, saying it was invasive and dangerous. (All surgery is invasive and dangerous. Sometimes it's still the better bet.) I took her advice and did not have surgery, but went back a year later to say things were still hurting. She told me specifically, direct quote, "You're healed!" And she was impatient about it. (I think she meant, that I was as healed as she thought I was going to get.) I learned later she also put on my record that I had fybromyalgia (unspecified pain from unspecified sources.) Years later I finally did have spinal surgery done. My condition has improved dramatically as a result. Her assessment that I was "healed" was ridiculous, my pain was caused by the injury, and her advice to not get surgery done delayed helpful surgery for years. When I finally got her medical records, there was next to nothing there -- either she had taken almost no notes, or was deliberately withholding notes to be spiteful, I don't know which. I would really avoid her, there are far better doctors out there.

Remarkably bad doctor. I waited six plus months to see her, was told she was great. Brought all of my reports, charts, films, etc. I was seen by a student. Spent an hour answering tedious questions that would have been clear to a doctor who had glanced at my med list. Then Fink popped her head in. It was clear she had not learned anything from the student who had just wasted a hour of my life. She recommended a drug I was on, and one I could not take for medical reasons (big red flag, impossible to miss). She also suggested PT at her Rockville office, even though I had just completed 9 months of PT in that office. Generally a total waste of time. The student knew nothin gang Fink made zero effort. NRH doctors seem obsessed with procedures, don't want to even look at you otherwise. it is a shame. Try treating your patient.

There was a rumor that Dr. Fink is a type of physician who treat her patients in favor of insurance companies. After a short meeting with her at no choice of mine and the consequences of that meeting I believed what I had heard. Prior to see her my other doctors had recommended me to stay out of work during my neck injury treatment. However, right after my brief visit, she reported to my disability insurance company that I was capable of going back to work. Since I lost all my benefits due to such report, I decided to support myself via unemployment benefits while looking for a suitable job. Unfortunately she refused to fill out a small form (6 questions) from unemployment commission and to state what she had stated previously to the disability insurance company. I hope the medical reform act could fix such behaviors.

Dr. Fink was excellent,thorough and very kind-emphatic. She listened and we made a plan together - to try and different medication regimen. She has personally called me back on numerous times to check-in and confirm how the medications were working. I would recommend Dr Fink to friends and family. Nita her assistant is excellent at foolow-up and call backs as well

Kathleen Fink is a source of embarrassment in medical field. I had all my medical records and exams ready on my chart for my neck injury. She even did not bother to look at my file. She was unfocused and unprepared. She said that she assumed I had done MRI!!! "you assume? Have you reviewed my medical record?" I said. The answer was "no". She did not read the questions I had answered on the questionnaire sheet that the office gave me upon my arrival regarding my condition either. I believe the medical board should monitor the physicians' practice every now and then for the sake of patients.
