Bettermed Urgent Care's Online Review Report Card

Prepare to be overcharged after your visit. I visited this urgent care a month ago and when I was filling out insurance forms and providing my credit card information I was assured multiple times that I would not be charged for this visit. I specifically asked about a co pay and any charges following the visit and was assured upon arrival and exit from the facility that this visit was free of charge. At the time I understood that there could be costs and repeatedly asked if there would be any follow up costs and I was assured there would be none. I woke up a month later to find a hefty charge on my card without any call of warning. The charge isn't the issue for the review. I was not able to prepare for the charge because it was not communicated during my visit and I was mislead. I would suggest avoiding this urgent care and opting for a more transparent experience unless you want to be jibbed a month later.

I will start with the fact that I used to love this place.  However, they have gone downhill over the years.  I go there mostly for migraines when  the rescue medications I have at home fail to work and it goes on for days.  The second to last time I went in I was told they had the ability to treat me, but they had to turn over patients at a certain rate and an IV to treat me would take too long and hurt their numbers.  I'm shocked they actually told me that was the reason and didn't make up some other excuse.  The nurse practitioner failed to look at my vitals and see how dangerously low my blood pressure was (this happens when you are throwing up from migraines and become dehydrated) until I brought it up as she was releasing me without treatment and I was telling her that I would need them to call an ambulance for me so I could go to the ER since they were unwilling to treat me.  At that point she took my blood pressure again and it had dropped even further and then she finally realized it may be in HER best interest to treat me with an IV to rehydrate me and get my blood pressure up instead of having to explain her reason for non treatment to other medical professionals.The last time I went in to be treated they would not give me the the normal combination treatment that has been shown to work at least 15 times.  It is an IV to hydrate me, a steroid, something for nausea, a nonsteroid anti-inflammatory, and benadryl.  I was only given the steroid and fluids after pressing for those.  They would not give me benadryl, an anti-nausea medication or a NSAID because I had "self medicated" (which isn't true  because I had taken medications as prescribed by my neurologist) by taking benadryl 16 hours before, and an anti-nausea medication and NSAID 8 hours before both of which can be taken every 6 hours.  Therefore I could have been given theses meds again at that time. Then at the end I was asked if I saw a neurologist and if I was on any preventative medications for migraines.  I do see a neurologist regularly and am on 4 prescriptions and one over the counter vitamin supplement to prevent migraines which tells me the nurse practitioner failed to look at the medications I was on and failed to look at any of my previous medical history either ar Bettermed or any where else.I am NOT upset because I wanted to receive narcotics to help with the pain and they didn't give me what I wanted.  I take a medication that would not even allow narcotics to work.  Plus even if I didn't  I've had horrible migraines for 20 years and know narcotics will only mask the pain for a little bit and I will be back in the same situation with a migraine in a few hours.  My hope in writing this is that the owner or someone higher up in the company will see this and change will happen.  The nurse practioners need to be looking at vitals and medications taken before treating patients.  Patients should also not be refused to be treated because it doesn't make Bettermed's or the nurse practioner's numbers look good or they don't think it is the best money maker for them.   For the time spent with the provider which is a bit more than an average visit the bill certainly compensates for the extra time as I would expect it to so if they look at it from that perspective they probable make more money off of this type of visit and shouldn't be refusing to treat people.  I hope things improve so people without life treating situations can be treated outside of the ER and allow those who do need to be in the ER better, faster treatment.

I've always had great, friendly, and timely care here. It is also clean and I went during the pandemic for care (not covid-related) and they had separate rooms for non-covid patients, which I really appreciated. I actually prefer to also bring my kids here vs. KidMed for care, too.

Good Place but some of the nurses need better bed side manner

I went to BetterMed near Willow Lawn and had a horrible experience.  I sat in the parking lot for an hour before they would see me and they only allowed me to go in when I walked into the lobby.  The receptionist was rude and when I called I kept being told that I was next.  The manager then came out and wanted me to leave.  I did not leave.  The provider and assistants were nice.  Need to be respectful of patients and thei time constraints.

We recently had a situation where one of our labs was misplaced (by the lab, not BetterMed) Mary Beth, the lead nurse for the day went above and beyond to help us. She made sure we were able to get back in quickly to the office, took our labs and made sure they were driven directly to the lab to ensure we had the results back the next day! She was kind, efficient, and listened to all our concerns. The whole staff was helpful! We highly highly recommend Mary Beth and team!

Loved not having to wait, courteous and competent personnel!!!

Dont bother trying to schedule a telemedicine visit, even if you have a condition in the list published on their website.

Trying to get a covid test and no one answers the phone and when they do they havent got a clue about process or time. Useless, they directed me to a different hospital rather than find out answers
