List of Anthony T. Carter's Reviews
Dr Carter and entire staff are the best and very caring, courteous and above all professional. Had bilateral knee replacement and have an excellent experience and recovery. Highly recommend!
Bilateral hip replacements 11 years ago. One great, one wrong from day one. Dr. Carter would not acknowledge there could be anything wrong with the painful one. Increasing pain over the years. Now part of it is loose, which will make it very difficult to replace, and it was too small to begin with. Beware.
Dr. Carter did my jiffy hip and two weeks out from surgery I was doing great. Easiest surgery ever...before surgery Dr. Carter came.into the pre op area and said do you know one of.your.legs is longer then the other...and.he said I will fix it so your legs are the same length didHe.fid noy and I don't have to worry that you have to length. Henfi f I nmoy.habe.to tell.me or take the time.yo make the same length didHe.fid noy
I had total hip replacement in October 2021. My thigh is numb and pain on the side of it. The incision has a large divet like they stitched it unevenly. It will show in the summer if I wear a bathing suit. I was told by the PAs that the numbness will go away in time. It has not changed at all. Its impossible to see Carter because he's too important to see patients follow up. I would not recommend him. BEWARE
Wonderful experience. Hip replacement and was up and about the next day
Very good outcome. Had my knee surgery 8 weeks ago and doing good. Really disappointed that Dr. Carter does not do his post op. I guess I won't see him again unless I have my other knee done. LOL But I really do believe that he should do his post ops. Even tho I'd would still go to him.
I had my first hip replacement with Anthony Carter and he made all the wrong decisions about what type of stem to use and I had to have multiple operations to correct it. Other or this have informed me that he should never haves used the “short stem” for me. I was a healthy athletic 58 year old female who skied and played tennis and I have had to learn to walk all over again as a result. His practise “heards” you in and his staff are very rude and he Does NOT CARE about his patients. It’s a numbers game for him. I don’t care if he has reinvented the wheel, his care is NOT the patient but maybe his career overall, what can he invent? or design? He has lots of accolades from people but he does not take his time and as a result the patient suffers. He wanted to correct his work by cutting “a window” into the thigh bone but I found a reputable surgeon that removed all of the hardware without drastic measures. (After five years I had the other hip done at Jordan Young- No Problem!)
If I could put more stars, I would. I came to Dr. Carter after another doctor butchered my knee replacement to the point my leg was not straight. Not only did Dr. Carter straighten my leg as best he could without doing another today replacement, which I would never want to go through again, but he was there to see me going thru initial PT after surgery AND he answered every question I had. I've never had a surgeon perform an exam in the OR prep and discuss, again, the surgery with me. I am 2.5 months out frim the revision surgery and could not be happier. Of course you MUST do your PT as prescribed also. It's like I never had surgery. HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR CARTER for knee revision and or replacement.
Everyone at the practice has been helpful, friendly and caring. Was a mostly pain-free experience, and have achieved a better range of motion that I had pre-surgery. Only wish I had done this sooner. Dr. Carter is the best!
I had a jiffy hip replacement done in 2012. The initial surgery went well but two weeks later I developed a red swollen area over the incision and a fever. I called and spoke to his nurse who instructed me to massage with vitamin E oil. The next night I was admitted for an infection and emergency surgery because of the massive infection. After recovering from that and the 4 months of IV antibiotics, I still had discomfort and was told it was bursitis. I am about to now have revision surgery (not with him) because the replacement has failed and is literally rattling around in my femur. It was not bursitis. Dr. Carter is a very successful, charming surgeon but his success has led to a assembly line type of practice. It is not uncommon for him to perform 6 or more surgeries in one day and I personally know 3 other people who have had issues after receiving THR surgery with Dr. Carter. One also had an infection, one needed revision surgery because her hip replacement failed within a month and the third has permanent nerve damage in his leg. Think twice is all I can say before going there.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
