Chkd Pediatric Urgent Care's Online Review Report Card

Experience over all was good but leaving only 3 stars because they don’t do reductions. Brought my son in who had a broken and dislocated pinky toe, waited an hr, got X-rays, and then was told we had to go to a nearby ER to get his toe put back in place because they don’t do reductions there. So then we started the process of waiting and getting MORE X-rays at another place (Sentara Port Warwick.) Would have saved us over an hour of time and some radiation exposure to my five year old if they would have looked at his sideways toe from the start.

This place should not get any rating at all.

Fast. Efficient. Kind.

Took my 2 kids and was told they just had some kind of virus. They sound ok and send us home. Even told them my wife has pneumonia. They did not do any test! Not happy with the diagnosis, I took my kids to Patient First and both of them have Covid and one has pneumonia! Save yourself time and money and just go to Patient First or Riverside. Terrible place! NEVER EVER COMING HERE AGAIN!

They’ve turned this place around big time with their providers. Dr. Madrid was thorough, genuine and awesome. Will definitely return to this location if their staff stays how it is now.

Accidents happen and they understand. They listen and took care of our little one with no judgment. This was our first time at an urgent care for our baby and they got us in a room quickly and treated us well

We arrived at the CHKD Urgent Care right when it opened at 10am on a Sunday. We were third to be seen. Front desk staff were efficient and friendly. Nurses were great 10/10. The physicians assistant and had saw my son took us seriously which was not my experience in the past here, which why I was hesitant to return. However this experience was 10x better. My son was looked at thoroughly, treated, and the PA returned to check him out once more. Bedside manner of PA was great, older gentleman. I would return based on this experience, and I'm glad I made the choice to take him, and give this place another chance.

My experience overall was not awful. However, there was nothing special about any of the people I saw that would set them apart as pediatric providers. I’ve had better communication with my child from providers at regular urgent care when he had suspected strep throat. Ultimately my biggest complaint is that the provider did not communicate the diagnosis with me and gave me completely opposite information about my child than what he ended up documenting. This was a huge waste of time and money.

The PA, Julie Martin, was beyond fantastic. I didn’t really have the best experience last time I had to bring my kid here but tonight she changed that experience by truly setting the example of how a visit should be. Not only did she make my child, who was feeling horrible and had a high fever laugh. She interacted with her stuffed animal (to represent her pet that just passed away). She didn’t know that, but that’s just an example of how going out your way to create a caring and positive experience makes a difference to someone. My daughter couldn’t stop talking about how much she likes it there after we left and I know it’s because Julie took the time to really make sure she was ok. I didn’t even have to ask for her to be tested, she knew right away my daughter needed extra care and evaluation of what was going on. I want to commend her for giving me hope that there are people who really enjoy their careers and work with a purpose. Thank you for your service today and making my little girl smile.

I don’t leave reviews often, but this is the second time I’ve brought my son here and have received nothing but quick and quality help. Today we walked in with less than 30 minutes to close. I expected an eye roll or two in all honesty, because who wouldn’t feel that way that close to closing time. I could not have been more wrong everyone greeted my son and I with kindness and had us in and out in a timely manner. Not in a “hurry up and leave” kind of way, but in a “I want to do all I can to help and then get your son back to the comfort of his own home” kind of way. Thoroughly impressed with my experience.
