Dr. Adkins is the surgeon caring for my mother. Words could never express the gratitude my family and I have for him. The man is truly heaven sent. During my years of physician encounters, I have not witnessed a more honest individual with a heart of gold that genuinely cares about the wellbeing of his patients. With sincerity, he provides a level of comfort while informing his patients he can only do what his expertise allows. There are so many great qualities within this man, its hard to sum them all up into a few sentences. If you and or your love one are ever in need of a neurosurgeon, I recommend you visit Dr. Adkins. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

This Doctor has a bedside mannor that will not quit! He is wonderful. But also a gifted neurosugeon. For this Public Health Scientist, there has never been better. To wake up with crushed lumbar from accident, he is a welcome site. Thanks is not enough

I honestly felt like there was no hope for the awful back pain I experience daily. Thank God for Dr. Adkins, he assured me there would be an end to me living with back pain. He was honest & explained the steps I would have to take. It will probably take a year or two to resolve all of my back issues. I was ecstatic to hear there is light at the end of the tunnel. I have been living in pain since April, 2016 and the pain has slowly gotten worse. I thought I would have to live the rest of my life in pain. The pain meds I currently take keep me from driving. I am so happy to know I will one day be able to take walks again & do things like drive my Grandkids to the Zoo or go to Busch Gardens with my family. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!

Today was my first initial appointment and I really enjoyed Dr. Atkins mannerism and his concern for my life I’ve been having back problems every since 2003 and it only has gotten worse and today I feel that I am in the best hands other than god he explained all the ends and out of the surgery so this will be a go for me ❤️

Dr. Adkins... First, he can look you in the eyes and be very human. Second, he is cautious with your life and will tell you the truth about what you need to do for the best possible outcome. He will not do what is not good for you. Its up to you to be a decent weight, don't smoke, don't be an addict and be personally motivated to create your own healing as well. Spinal surgery isn't a "fix" in and of itself entirely. Lastly, nothing can replace what you were born with but if you are lucky enough to have Dr. Adkins on your team, you might have a great chance at a high quality of life and a humane experience in a surgeon. Sentara is lucky to have him.
