List of Marilyn Van Horn's Reviews
I love Dr. VanHorn. My favorite thing is that she’s concerned about the whole patient, physical and mental. Not enough doctors inquire and respond to mental health concerns.
Dr. Marilyn Van Horn I believe either hates her job, or she just hates her patients. All of my experiences with her were absolutely horrible. I’ll never forget the one day I saw her glance in the room I was waiting in, and she literally rolled her eyes, and let go of a SHARP exhale before putting herself together to walk in and put on a fake smile. Immediately I felt very uncomfortable. She didn’t even properly greet me, I think she said “hey” and asked what was the reason I was coming in for. Because I didn’t feel welcome, I quickly said I was there for suspected heart issues. Immediately she said, “ok I’ll get you a referral to a cardiologist, anything else?” I didn’t even respond no, I just shook my head. And she smiled and said alright, and then directed me where to go to check out and walked out of the room. I was absolutely disgusted by her and her behavior. Worst Doctor I have ever had in my life. I called the desk to complain about her and (not) to my surprise the desk representative literally said that I’m not the only one and that she gets complaints all the time. Because my ethnicity is diverse, I honestly felt she was racist, because I couldn’t understand why she was so blatantly rude and uncaring. The receptionist explained to me that I was not the only one to call feeling that way about Dr. Van Horn. I eventually realized it was more so of just the way she is as a person as opposed to being a racist, because I saw many different complaints from various people. I would literally say to stay AWAY from this place and do not waste your time if you care about your health. Because she doesn’t, and it’s that simple. Or for anyone’s sake if they do decide to visit her, I hope she sees this and changes her ways. It’ll be best for everyone involved.
Wonderful experience with Dr. Van Horn! She is very knowledgeable and is willing to go above and beyond. Thankful we found her.
No one will answer the phone. A surgical release form was faxed three weeks ago by my Oral Surgeon so that I can get a broken tooth extracted but they have not sent it back and are impossible to get a hold of. I've also never received any reminders for annual checkups, etc. Seems they really don't care at all about their patients.
I am extremely disappointed in this practice. I have been been seeing Dr Vanhorn for about a year now. Don’t worry about seeing the doctor because you won’t get anyone to answer the phone to schedule an appointment. God forbid you have a problem and need to speak with your doctor because again no one answers the phone or you are put on hold for an hour - speak to someone at the desk and then be put back on hold for another hour! Very poor to non existent customer service. If it weren’t so serious it would be comical. Best advice … go somewhere else where people care!!
The first time I saw Dr VanHorn, I came into the office with my husband and she didn’t really acknowledge his presence. She questioned me about birth control and tried to pressure me into getting on the pill because condoms aren’t as effective. I told her that we were open to getting pregnant and asked her prescription prenatal vitamins. She questioned why I would want prescription because of the cost, but wrote the script anyway. I asked her about the possibility of getting prenatals without biotin because biotin gives me cystic acne. She asked me where I heard that and declared it wasn’t a thing and that biotin was critical for prenatals. Later we pick up the prescription and to my surprise there was no biotin in it. I scanned all of the ingredients multiple times, researched the prescription online, there was NO biotin. I had a follow-up appointment a month later for bloodwork. By this time I had actually gotten pregnant. When I told her the first thing she said was “Congrats! Are you married??” I also told her that there was no biotin in the prenatals she prescribed me and she assured me that there was without even looking into the pills. This woman treated me like I was ignorant and irresponsible with my own health. She did not look into any of my concerns and wrote off my experiences as invalid. I would not recommend her to anyone who wants to treated with dignity and respect.
Dr Van Horn tries hard to be personable, but it's very much not in her nature. Conversation easily shifts to a political agenda where she doesn't want to take your concerns seriously if you're in the minority. I asked her neutrally what she thought about the Covid vaccines and she told me Trump did a great job and Black people aren't targeted by Covid, they just have higher incidences of obesity and diabetes. Not only are those not the only health issues to be concerned about, it was NOT what I asked her about. She said she would send me articles proving her point.. which she never did.As a doctor she didn't listen well and she made me feel unsafe in her care.
I've been to this office to see this doctor twice now and have waited extended periods of time. I understand it's covid times so I was patient but when your appointment is at 4 and you don't get called back until 450, that's just crazy. Additionally, people who came after you are getting seen BEFORE you. I almost thought I didn't check in!On top of the complete lack of respect for people's time, the medical care is sub par (and I would know sub par, I was in the military for 10 years). She barely listened to my concerns and failed to perform tests and talk to me about results. She didn't even I asked for or administer the shot I needed. Literally, the ONLY reason I needed to see a doctor. I asked the nurse and they quickly whisked me out of the office without answering me. I have never felt so rushed and in the way of someone who's job it is to help me. It's incredibly rude. I will not be returning. I highly recommend you find a doctor willing to listen to your concerns and give you the care you need. She was not the fit for me.
She misdiagnosed me, promised a referral which was never made. She never touched me, didn’t lay a hand or a arthroscope on me. All the sweet talk is useless if you don’t take care of your patients’ health issue. Shameful.
Wow. This has to be the most unprofessional office I’ve ever been too. It very much seems as far as the office goes that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. They fail to communicate with me as a patient and it seems with each other. I won’t go into great detail on how horrible the customer service is. Dr Vanhorn spends about five minutes with you and is un-attentive as possible. The last time I had a physical she tried to bully me into getting a flu shot. She interrupts when you are talking and seems to simply not care. I’ve given this office multiple chances and this was my last. They screwed up my appointment and then tried to do a tele health visit for a physical. And how do you take vitals and do blood work for a telehealth visit? They run late and are unprofessional and I am DONE.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
