Overall pretty good. Tends to prescribe meds like take another crack at it. Had some bad side effects from her random choices. Went to her for numerous years and decided on another... hopefully someone who pays better attention.

I think Dr. Short is great. My experience with other personnel in her office was not. I found the nurse who took my history to be pretty gruff, but that was fine. Different personalities do not bothered me. What bothered me was the nurse who called me back when I made a request to have note to be written for the first trip I was taking since covid started. I have stage IV breast cancer that went to my lungs (specifically my plural cavity). There was some permanent damage to my left lung after the surgery I had for a pneumothorax and I also have asthma. I am fully vaccinated and can wear a mask most of the time in public. I explained to the nurse that after extended periods with a mask on, I have trouble breathing and have to take it off for a short period of time. The airline said I would need a doctors note for me to do this. The nurse was very snippy with me and said they do not provide letters. She went on to say, "if we provided this we would be writing letters all day long." It is a shame there are so many people who have metastatic breast cancer, asthma and lung damage in Powhatan, VA that it would take all day long, every day to provide those who need a letter written to take their mask off when they have trouble breathing on a plane......

Dr. Short is remarkable. I’ve seen her for years because she’s intuitive, highly intelligent, and absolutely on top of the latest medical treatments available. There are few attributes that stand out in particular with Dr. Short as a family physician . 1). She always listens carefully. She’s exceptionally detail oriented and intuitive, but she also immediately distills trust. The years she’s spent in her field are apparent, but almost more importantly, Dr. Short’s calm demeanor makes me trust her medical judgment over the years. She provides comprehensive family medicine, and I trust her implicitly. That’s a big deal for me, and she provides exceptional care. Even in these uncertain times with insurance and Covid 19, she will always be my Doctor.
