List of Chippenham Hospital's Reviews
Worst experience. I went to the ER bc I suspected I had Covid. It was hard to breathe and every swallow felt like knives. I had a fever as well. I was alone so I decided to go to the ER at 4am. They placed me on a random gurney in the hall and left me there for 30 minutes. Then a nurse came and moved me to another gurney in the hall, except this one was behind the nurses stations blocked by unused machines. They took my insurance and then abandoned me on the gurney for another 45 minutes. They took me for an EKG for some reason but no one tried to help me breathe or take my temperature other than the intake nurse. They put me back in the hall. I got to hear all the nurses complaining for another 30 before they finally swabbed me for Covid. An hour and a half went by and no one checked on me. I wobbled to the desk for assistance and they told me to go back to my gurney, someone would check on me. I got to listen to them complain about shift change and watch them walk past me to check on others. I felt unseen and ignored. An annoyed doctor came over and told me my test hadn't come back but she was going to just release me anyway and gave me some aspirin. I left out there choking on my own saliva and immediately drove to Patient First where I was diagnosed with COVID and bc I am high risk I needed a nebulizer with steroids as well. Chippenham never called me with my test results nor did they ever treat me. I called and emailed Patient Services about my experience but they never responded. They billed me but I did not receive care. If I waited for their results, I still wouldn't know I had Covid. Chippenham does NOT care about people and I will never go there for treatment again if I want to live.
Worst hospital I've ever been to?? Kaitlyn Garcia (MD). Was actually the rudest doctor I've encountered in awhile. She didn't listen at all, yelled at me about an IV port, and acted like I was stupid as I tried to explain to her while I was in pain. Do not come to this hospital unless you are literally on the verge of dying and only need CPR and a reprimand.
If i could leave no stars, i would. Staff is very rude & inconsiderate & theres honestly nothing more I can say other than I wonder how they would feel if they were in a patients shoes or if a family member of theirs were being treated in that hospital.
Arrived at 5:45 AM for same day surgery. Case completed at 10:35 AM. It is now 3:45 PM and still waiting for a room for my family member. Saw the admission nurse heading somewhere and thought I would ask a status update because she did not offer one. Was told that my family member was assigned a room currently occupied. Once patient discharged and room cleaned then family member will be transferred. Throughput is a joke here. If you know there will be delays, at least update the family members who can't see their loved ones in recovery after surgery.
they are all about doing everything online ahead of a scheduled visit but then omit to tell you on the day that you sill have to go to Central Registration for more paperwork. I sat for 20 minutes before someone asked me if I had my paperwork. Maybe a sign on the window of the women's center would help. ended up being late for my appointment.
I was sent to this ED to have additional tests as I was experiencing chest difficulties. I was dismissed from the beginning and although the necessary tests were performed Dr James Wilson was rude to me and spoke to me as if I was a recalcitrant child. I apparently misunderstood what was to happen but the doctor's tone was such and he said as much that he didn't care who sent me but I was not having that procedure done "off the street". At no time was there any concern regarding my well-being. One nurse did state how I should stay as the symptoms of heart disease in women are different than men. No one said anything to me until I inquired about the results and even then I was told to wait. At approximately 630 pm my name was called. I got up and walked toward the triage area and was told that they were waiting for the discharge papers and to sit back down. 15 min later, he brings the papers over, telling me that all the results were negative and to follow up with my PCP. NOTHING on the paperwork indicated ANYTHING other than the possible causes of chest pain. No vitals, no blood test or chest xray or EKG results. My condition wasn't even acknowledged and I was there for almost 7 hours!!! I know ED visits can be long but patients should be treated with respect and support. I won't pull the race card because we already know that our illness isn't going to be taken seriously as was played out. I went to patient first prior to this visit and referred. Patient first followed up twice; one to see how i was doing and the second time to tell me I had pneumonia. They told me to return to them in 2 days and to take the antibiotics they were calling in to the pharmacy. Nothing from CH...
Went to ER after several hours of nerve pain after it was obvious nothing at home was going to help (have had extensive disk surgeries in the past). Ultimately was told to WAIT another 8-10 hours until the next morning to get rx filled for pain relief. No imaging was done to rule out compression issues. Furthermore, I did not get a referral to either ortho practice I asked for but rather to a foot doctor (I had seen a foot doctor for my FEET for over a year and this was very obviously NOT foot pain) but very definitely nerve pain... In other words, my ER visit was a total waste of time and money and I left in more misery than I had started with. The ER did NOTHING. INEXCUSABLE! Never again!
Trauma 1? I think not. Sent to a floor with nothing correctly done in orders. No telemetry with a compromised esophagus. The poor nurse had WAY to many patients and no decent/well trained tech support. Without an ICU nurse in my family to help me advocate for the patient I'm not sure when anything would have been done. No meds, no fluids, nothing. The only reason we wound up here is because MCV was diverting patients from their ER. Absolute nightmare. Chippenham is a joke and needs some serious administration overhauls.
Poor customer service. father n law (FIL) not getting the proper care. Nurses are rude and unprofessional. Drove down from DC to visit FIL (90 years old) who had been hospitalized for a hip replacement n upon arrival found him in excessive pain. went to the nurses station n was met with lackadaisical attitude of nothing can be done right now. Overall frustrating situation as it seems the 6th floor is riddled with incompetence. Do not and will not recommend anyone admit themselves or their loved ones n the hospital. Totally UNSAT. This emergency room is NOT the worst in this area (RVA)---I darn near died because nobody at the Westchester division of St. Francis could diagnose a ruptured appendix.....7 years later I had a horrible experience at the big St. Francis (emergency room) over off of Old Hundred-----bottom line is you can't find a highly rated emergency room around RVA......period On another note I really wish people would STOP rating hospitals/emergency rooms based on what they have to pay out of pocket----what has that got to with the service you received ???? Try getting better insurance !

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
