List of Elaine Turner's Reviews
I had testing (blood and scratch) twice in my life, but I noticed that I was having new issues. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Turner to try to figure out what was going on. Sadly, she's the only one that takes my insurance. I VERY HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU GO ANYWHERE ELSE. She violated HIPPA, she spoke to me condescendingly, she told me that adults don't get eczema (lol what?!?!?), she told me that I'm not allergic to things that have literally given me anaphylaxis, she told me that I didn't know what I was talking about. I would rather die from an allergic reaction than go there again.
Just got back from seeing Elaine Turner, M.D. Wish I read the reviews first, but the appointment was just made by my primary yesterday, so no time. Walked in and was not greeted. Stood there and was finally asked if I needed a shot. This was asked by someone behind the counter who didn't even look up. I said no and I had an appointment with the Dr. After 30 seconds of silence, she asked for my info. Never said hello, how are you, good morning.... nothing. She sat me down with a pile of paper work. Got called back and asked a few questions by a nurse who was equally unpleasant. When the Dr. came in, she was exactly how all others have described. Rude, condescending, short with me, snobbish and just not a pleasant person at all. Didn't seem to care one bit about how I was doing. She wrote down a regiment and said she would give it to the nurse who would wright it up for me and give me the info about labcorp. I sat there for 15 minutes and wondered if I was really supposed to go out and
I don't like writing negative reviews. But,This PHYSICIAN AND THEIR PRACTICE HAVE NO BEDSIDE MANNERS (only Wendy B.-N.P.) Seriously, they need to have morning meetings before patients arrive to pray, check attitudes, to vent, and re-visit bedside manners 101. Whatever, they need to do before patients arrive. They are rude, abrupt, condescending, very impatient, and lack much needed empathy.Regardless of their degrees and education doctors and nurses should not only be knowledgeable, but who also makes you feel important, taken care of, and listen to you. This is not what I experienced. What was worst I had an anaphylaxis (life-threatening) situation weeks before and bad allergic reactions several times after, which was why I was trying to be seen sooner than later. However, I had to be taken to the ER again after talking with the nurse (who not once said "how are you doing") days before. Yet, I was turned away hours after leaving the emergency room on the date I thought I was scheduled. I assume my appt. date was sooner than 10 days later after several phone conversations with the nurse (Dr is too busy to call even after hours) regarding previous allergic reactions. They showed NO empathy whatsoever and blamed me for the appointment mix-up. Nevertheless, they could have tried to fit me in for a few minutes to help me with some medicines to calm the histamines. I was shocked because I was not in good shape. I was very shaken from the ER visit. Yet, I was confronted with very cold front desk person during a time I really needed help. Not one time did she or any of them show any sympathy and ask, "how I was doing," or "I am sorry you are going through this," or "We care about you and your experience."The only person who showed any concern was the nurse practitioner during a previous office visit, which was comforting but very short lived.I read the other reviews regarding this Doctor but was very optimistic and decided to give her a try because of my previous experience with Henrico Doctors Hospital. But, I was WRONG. Honestly, this was the worst experienced with a doctor's office I have ever had.
If I could leave zero stars I would, do not waste your time going to see Dr Turner. She is very condescending, rude, and basically talks down to you in every way possible. Oh not to mention she basically made it seem like all my symptoms were in my head, and said she guessed she could do some testing but she did not see what for. The staff I encountered also seemed rude they must learn by example. I could go on but I won't, just don't waste your time.
Never going back. It takes way too long to get an appointment. They don't offer same day appointments for sick visits. If you need to wait several days or a week to be seen, you may as well go to a Patient First or the like and that's going to cost you. They aren't open on Fridays. No wonder they're always backed up. Their office systems are antiquated. They don't have a patient portal. They don't even have an answering system that allows patients to leave messages! Not exactly user friendly. Further, they do not employ computers/medical office software. They still use paper files. Most of the time Dr. Turner doesn't pull the patient's file for her appointments. As such, she asks a lot of questions that could be easily answered if she actually looked at the file. If you don't know or remember the answers, she gets flustered but she still doesn't pull your file or ask a nurse to get it. So, if the answers to those questions were relevant to your care plan, how exactly is the doctor to making informed decisions re: diagnoses, testing, treatment and/or prescriptions? Finally, Dr. Turner has been away for nearly a year (because of Covid, I guess), but they haven't added another doctor to help with the patient load. Also, given how difficult it is to get an appointment, why do patients have to come in for a recheck after being seen for a sinus infection? Either it's cleared up and you feel well or it hasn't cleared up and you still feel poorly in which case you go back to see your doc. If you are well, why must you have a recheck? Who makes it a point to see a doctor when they are not sick (unless for an annual exam) or injured? But this place holds your meds hostage unless you go back just to tell them you feel better. No follow-up visit, no prescriptions.
Agreed with above reviews that she comes off rude (read: short with you to prioritize time to sicker patients) and rushes sometimes, however she is spectacularly knowledgeable and has helped me beyond what any other ever has. I'd rather have a rude doc who knows what she's doing than a nice one who does nothing. Advocate for yourself before taking it out in a review. Patients need reviews too, and one that doesnt speak up sufficiently doesnt help their own diagnosis.
Not sure if things have changed since others have left their reviews, but I’ve had a great experience here. Dr. Turner seemed to really care and made sure that my medications were the best ones for my allergies and took the time to speak with me / was easy to talk to, which I unfortunately think is rare with many doctor’s today.
Wish I had read the reviews before wasting my time with this doctor.
If I could leave a zero star rating, I would. I took my son in for an allergy test. After briefly meeting with Dr. Turner, she immediately left the room and began talking about me very loudly to the staff of nurses. Only after realizing how loud she was did the nurse tell her to speak quietly... At which time she began to whisper. How incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. She also spoke in a very demeaning and condescending manner. If her poor professionalism and behavior represents the behavior of the other staff and physicians, this place is HORRIBLE!! Do not waste your time.
I've never a physician so content on managing me within the appointment. She was insistent I had NO idea what I was talking about, that my experiences were irrelevant to her. She was not open to my life, and said that all the testing, previous doctors who have HELPED me, were bunk and that I should not be listening to them.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
