List of Blue Ridge Pain Management Associates's Reviews
Blue Ridge Pain Management Associates has failed my father at every level of care, largely due to his physician, Dr. Baylor. My father is a workers' compensation patient with a severe back injury that has left him debilitated. He is currently in constant pain and cannot stand for more than five minutes due to shooting back and leg pain. Despite worsening symptoms, the care he has received has been negligent and dismissive. The practice is nearly impossible to reach. Phone calls routinely take three or more days to be returned, and patients cannot speak to a live person when calling. For someone in severe, ongoing pain, these delays are unacceptable and harmful. Dr. Baylor spends less than 10 minutes per visit. He does not listen, does not physically examine or assess the patient, and refused to order updated X-rays even after my father explicitly requested them while reporting debilitating symptoms. This reflects a complete lack of clinical engagement. The most alarming failure occurred in December and rests entirely with Dr. Baylor. At an appointment on Tuesday, December 16, he told my father he could receive a spinal injection three days later. When my father arrived on Friday, December 19, he was turned away because he needed to be off one of his medications for five full days. There were not even five days between the visit and the procedure. This was not a scheduling issue. It was Dr. Baylor's responsibility to know medication restrictions, provide accurate instructions, and ensure his patient was eligible for the procedure he ordered. His failure caused unnecessary pain and hardship for a man who can barely stand or walk. Dr. Baylor has demonstrated an inability to provide competent care. The repeated lack of listening, absence of examination, refusal to order appropriate imaging, and failure to manage basic treatment requirements is unacceptable. I strongly caution patients, especially workers' compensation cases, to seek care elsewhere.
I was 4 minutes late they (front staff checked me in after I had been waiting in office when they called me up they told me I had to reschedule not to be concerned with my schedule. Just the office )canceled me Poor attitude from office staff !! To think my deductible office charge is paying to be treated poorly ..they know they have you over a barrel.. The doctor did not believe how much I was paying per office visit. He said that is just what we charge not what you pay. I had to show them my statement from my insurance company so he would believe me since I'm a paying customer not a Medicaid customer what a rip off. !!! Don't forget the random drug test that I have to pay for now they're using their own lab and charging me more than I was paying from LabCorp.
Had a very good first experience with Dr. Baylor. He was very thorough and asked a lot of questions. Seems genuinely concerned and feels he can help with constant pain I am having in leg/foot. I feel very positive about my future for the first time in over a year!
I saw Dr Baylor in November 2024 for breast pain. He administered a pain block. He punctured my left lung and he knew it but he set me home. I had to go to the emergency room because I could not breathe and was in extreme pain. I was then told I had a collapsed left lung. Because of negligence, I had to spend three days in the hospital. I am still in pain and have to have surgery. I do not recommend Dr Baylor or his practice!!
The office staff at this location are very dismissive and don't seem to actually do their jobs. I have been trying to get pain medication for my back since LAST YEAR and they send the prescription but never seem to follow up on the pre authorization. They are extremely dismissive of patients who are just trying to get help to live their lives.
Dr. Baylor is excellent, but the staff is lazy!!! Claimed to have called my insurance company for an authorization to get a certain medication patch but found out they never contacted my insurance!
I went to Dr Swanson back 2010-2014 and quit going because I felt like I was just money to them. Started again last month and first time I need to be seen I was given an emergency appointment for 1:00. Got to 1st Street office and woman in wheelchair was stuck outside because there are NO wheelchair accessible door and she had been in tears knocking and no one heard her so took me few minutes to turn her around and get her in both doors and then there was a woman at window so I couldn't sign in. Needless to say I signed in at 1:04 . Sat down and at 1:27 I was called to window and told I would have to reschedule since I was 4 minutes late which I actually wasn't. So me sitting 23 minutes in pain isn't worth anything but their 4 minutes are priceless??? Needless to say I would rather die in pain than be treated like that so I won't be going back

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
