List of Veena V Railan's Reviews
Been going to her since I was a kid. Been extremely helpful in every medically-related aspect of my life!
Dr. Railan treated myself and my children for over 10 years when she was working at this location. She took calls on evenings and weekends, referred us to the best specialists and provided care that has left us disappointed with every doctor since. That level of attention and care is no longer possible to find. Due to the location of this office, we did see more then one disgruntled patient leave irate after unsuccessfully looking for pills. I recently looked her up for advice for another family member and came across this site and was shocked by the other review. It is so strange and removed from my 10+ years of experience having her as a family physician I felt compelled to share my experience. I hope to locate her as doctors like her are rare indeed.
I saw this physician for over twenty years. She would usually make me, and the female members of my family wait two hours to see her for bloodwork or a follow up appointment. However, she usually saw the male member of my family within about twenty minutes. Her office is in horrible condition, she rarely keeps her staff very long, and a lot of them are hard to understand, and she is the only Dr. I know who always makes you come in for results.
This Dr. has an office in horrible condition, she just runs the building into the ground. She also tends to make her female patients, like myself, and the other female members of my immediate family wait sometimes as long as two hours to see her. This is in over thirty years of seeing her, so it was not a one time coincidental occurrence. However, she would see the male member of my immediate family within about twenty minutes. Then she makes you come in for results instead of simply emailing them to you, and she makes you see her far more than any other general health physician I have ever met makes you see her. I feel she just does this to get make you pay her more. If that isn't bad enough, she hardly keeps any of her staff members for very long. A lot of them were not very clear communicators, either, thus making them very hard to understand.
My family moved to Virginia in 1989 from Texas. I didn't know any doctors here. At the time, my kids were 1, 5, and 8. One of them got sick and her office was the closest. She took a thorough history, provided a comprehensive exam, and discussed her findings with me. The kids really liked her. At that time, she was also teaching pediatrics at one of the medical schools. At one point, the oldest boy decided he wanted a male doctor. After seeing the new doctor, he told me he wanted to go back to Dr. Railan. My kids are now grown but she took care of them until they left for college. You couldn't ask for a finer physician. I feel lucky I found her.
I no longer see Dr. Railan, because of location. However, she was the best doctor I've had - someone who combined an exceptionally high degree of medical competence with genuine caring.
asks too many personal questions about family.. not enough questions about what's actually wrong with me
Always had to wait because the doctor forgot the key to the office. Asked too many personal questions about family.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
