The only reason I am giving two stars and not one is that the surgery I had did go pretty well and I am fairly happy with those results. But I would truly never go back here ever again, and red flags about this terrible experience started during my first consultation.Not that it would be justified to react this way to someone seeking treatment, for context, I had a relatively small (probably 1 cm) keloid, which was largely not visible as it was on the back of my ear. Keloids are an uncontrollable and harmless genetic medical condition; hardly worthy of verbalized disgust.After I explained my reasons for coming in, the nurse (I believe her name was Jocelyn) walked around to see the back of my year and immediately went "Oh." in a repulsed tone. When she then asked me further questions about the keloid, she unnecessarily added "yeah I would want that thing on my body either," even though most of my reasons for wanting to get it removed, as I expressed to her, were focused not on its physical appearance but the physical sensation of it being there.On the actual day of the removal procedure when I mentioned I was a little nervous, because of the high failure rate of these procedures, Jocelyn said "but it will all be worth it to get rid of that *THING* right?"Jocelyn is still in school and she clearly has many "things" to learn. And no, this expensive and painful procedure was not all worth it for something that wasn't causing me harm. Before I had set foot in this office nothing and no one had EVER made me feel bad about having a keloid; some of my friends never even noticed. If you can't handle seeing something so minor as this without making unwarranted comments reflecting your own insecurities then you should seriously reconsider your profession and this office should seriously reconsider having you learn here. These little comments didn't really affect me and I was able to find humor in the whole experience by sharing it with my friends, who were shocked. But at the end of the day, it's unprofessional and frankly rude. When you're ugly on the inside it shows on the outside; not even working for a plastic surgeon has clearly fixed that for Jocelyn so I genuinely wish her good luck in life! Also, I had some sort of reaction to one of the follow-up treatments and started feeling out of breath and my eyes were watering (this has never happened to me before). Dr. Maia tried to convince me that I must be stressed about something in my personal life and that's why this was happening. She treated me like a child, asking what I was "crying" about even though I repeatedly said that it was not an emotional response that I was having but rather a physical one. Just an unprofessional office all around. On top of all of this, the office frequently made me wait. Not being seen for over an hour after the scheduled appointment time without any updates or explanation isn't normal. Especially when being charged $$$. Embarrassed I ever chose to give this office money. Don't do the same.

Dr Maia and her staff are truly professional: knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, kind, willing to listen to your concerns and answer all your questions. They are there for you, and Dr Maia is talented. Super talented! You are in good, safe hands.

I loved Dr Maia and the ladies, all attentive, always willing to answer all questions. I am 29 years old and I had surgery to remove my eyelid and the results were wonderful. Even after the surgery, her professional staff called to check on me during my recovery, which helped put me mind at ease. Dr. Maia and her staff were always professional, responsive, and listened when I had concerns. After the procedures, I was back at work two weeks later and could not be happier with my results. I had a great experience and Dr. Maia will be my first call for any other procedures.
