It is the best , great service they care and are very quick usually no waitingcomplete service , highly recommend
Twice in the 30+ years in have going to FCFP their advice saved my life.
Easy to get an appointment in a timely manner; they also have an urgent care clinic for their patients to walk-in as necessary. Staff are courteous and professional. Extremely timely! Across the spectrum from nurses to PAs to doctors, they listen to what I have to say and make me feel both important, as well as a contributor to the treatment plan. I began as a patient with First Colonial when I lived nearby in Virginia Beach. Now (depending upon traffic), I live a half-hour away but even so, I remain their patient and will continue to do so. I highly recommend them.
I recently had a first time experience with a virtual doctor appointment. I felt that Dr Killen did a great job answering my questions, making suggestions and making this experience a positive one. The staff at First Colonial Family Practice did a great job preparing me to have the virtual appointment so that the experience went so smoothly and and successfully.
I love andrea she's a very good nurse and dr. Charlton good doctor need a doctor come to first colonial.
Dr. Jones is our favorite doctor. He is always very attentive and listens to his patients.
Don't answer or ask any questions or the Doctors will charge you for multiple visits. Use to be a good practice but they have become a corporate greed machine like the rest.
We have been going to First Colonial Family Practice for years. My husband became very sick last week. We went to the ER and he was given some medicine to treat his stomach and told to follow up with his doctor and to see a gastro specialist. He was also given a Covid test which came back negative. We went to FCFP on Saturday because he still wasn’t feeling better and the specialist is only doing virtual appointments. He was seen briefly and told he had to come back Monday and have another Covid test and if it came back negative to come back in and they would run some tests on him. He got the negative Covid results today and even called to make sure he could be seen. He was told yes and to come on in. We got there and they refused to see him. They are a doctors office and an Urgent Care facility but if you have any “Covid” symptom, which includes just about any symptom you would see a doctor for, they will not see you, even with two negative Covid tests.
Dr Robert Woodard is my new primary care physician, and I couldn't have asked for a better one. I used to see Dr Tennant, he is great, but since I haven't been to the Dr's in so long, I was treated as a new patient and Dr Tennant wasn't taking new patients. I ended up with Dr Woodard and I am extremely please with him. The front office is great, always has been great, especially Ricky Dean! Their customer service and safety protocols are top notch! If you're looking for a Dr., go to First Colonial Family Practice, and ask for Dr, Woodard!
I have been going to First Colonial Family for at least 2 t0 3 years. They have been very good to me with the illness that I have had & sent me to specialist for problems needed extra care. Dr Tyler is very compassionate listening to my ailments and taking good care of in giving me the medicine & checking my bloodwork for me to stay healthy, his nurse is also very attentive to me & very great telling me my vitals & asking questions about how I'm feeling. They have been great to me!
I have the best PA, Jennifer Reynaldo is the best
My parents have been coming to this practice for 15 years. My mother has advanced Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). At this stage she has the cognitive ability of a 2 year old. She cannot wear a mask because she takes it off immediately. The VA Department of Health and the Governor's mask mandate make an exception for any special needs individuals or others who cannot wear a mask for medical reasons. This practice has refused to see her if she is not wearing a mask, knowing full well she has advanced dementia. Instead they have told us to take her to the ER where not only will she be more susceptible to a deadly disease, but we will also incur much larger health care costs for emergency specialist care as well as continue to clog up the emergency system for non emergency minor care. They have been reported to the VA Department of Health and I will discourage anyone I know from going to this practice as they clearly don't care about their patients health.
I used to go to this family practice years ago. And I went for many years. Then they turned into one of those walkin Services mixed in with the people who have appointments. For the most part the office staff is very helpful while the other half either in person or on the phone can be quite rude. Their number one problem in this building its like walking back in time it needs a facelift for sure it hasnt changed much other than the reception area since I was a patient there. My mother who lives in the hilltop area and in her 80s this is where her doctor is and I take her to her doctor appointments. I just find that they are for the most part between 1 and 5 for efficiency I might give them a 2. I just do not recommend this facility for much of anything. I could go on and on about my phone experience today after one girl at the desk tells me one thing and then I called today to confirm and nothing was right and every time I turn around they want me to come in there to pick up a paper to confirm something with my mother blood Labs Etc that maybe shes not getting there why they cant email me these things I dont know I live in North Carolina my mother lives in Virginia Beach its not convenient to just get in the car and ride there to pick up a piece of paper. I take my mother to her doctors appointments so theres no confusion between her and me on procedure she might need done. I told her years ago get out of that practice building but shes old school and keeps going. Thank you for letting me blow off some steam since I had just gotten off the phone with this practice. All I wanted to do was get her set up for LabCorp so she can get her blood Labs instead of going to the doctors office get her blood labs the same day that shes getting her doctor appointments. She could go up there a few days before to get her blood labs but she likes to go just one time so I was trying to make it convenient since the LabCorp is right across the street from her house. So they have to go through the doctor group to let them know then get ahold of you then have a paper then call the LabCorp . I have never heard of so much crap in my life. I go to the Family Practice Center in Virginia Beach off of General Booth Boulevard it is not a walkin service its just your general practitioners and Ive never had a problem my doctor who I go to every six months Im set up at the hospital at Princess Anne to go get my early morning blood Labs that are convenient for me . Ive never had a problem and Ive never had to go through what I do trying to take care of my mother . Ive just never seen a place thats ran like this and the woman and I wont name her (The Big C), has a very big mouth!
Ive been coming here for years. Could the place use a facelift yes. But there are a few good things I like about this place. 1. Weather you coming for an appointment or a walk in from check in to the time they call you back is a matter of minutes. And Ive never waited longer than 1015 in the room to see the doctor. 2. They have a really good patient portal that you can use to make appointment and pay bills. 3. They make requesting prescription refills easy. After coming here for years I set up my PCP here and Ive never had any issues. I definitely recommend giving this place a chance, especially if you live in the area.
The 3 star rating would be lower based on my recent experience with this facility but giving three because of Dr. Thomas Jones. I am not going to go into details about recent experience and mistakes as I have made my calls to Previa and First Colonial Practice. All I can say is that I have been going to this facility for 2530 years may be longer as I lost count. The ONLY reason I will continue to go to this place is for Dr. Thomas Jones. If he leaves, I am leaving to follow him. Luckily, he is too young to retire soon. (lucky me) Thank you.
One of the worst places Ive ever been to. My wife went here for some tests and never got the results. She never got a phone call for a followup and never was scheduled for an additional examination. It turned out that she had an ovarian cyst that needed to be immediately removed. Luckily, her OB/GYN caught it before it turned into something way worse. The worst part...one of the docs said, its probably just in your head.If I had it on video, Id get them shut down for malpractice. Unfortunately, all we can do is post this review. Please seek your medical care elsewhere.
THE WORST FIRST IMPRESSION EVER! Stopped to see if this was the appropriate place to have a potentially fractured wrist evaluated and got ATTITUDE from the receptionist and patient care coordinator. NOPE, turned on my heels and went elsewhere. We are from another state, which has similar, yet different, tiers of care. Go next door to the ACTUAL ER, they go above and beyond in the care of patients.
First Colonial Family Practice has become the bottom of the pit when it comes to caring for their patients. I have been going there for about 25 years and it just keeps getting worse and worse at every visit.First of all this is a company run business and not a private practice. The company places rules on the doctors and do not allow them to fully treat their patients as well as they could. The doctors are not allowed to give you a cortisone injection or give you a prescription for narcotic pain medication even though they use to in the past. They keep saying that their not allowed to do this because they dont have the proper license. Really? You need a special license for a cortisone injection or pain medication? Theyre doctors, what special license do they need? I go to another doctor who has his own private practice to get a cortisone injection as needed with no problem. In fact, they dont even treat you at all anymore. Now all they do is refer you to another doctor or a specialist. This place had become just another referral clinic. So whats the point of going there when all their going to do is refer you to someone else?As for the ladies at the front desk, they are the worst this place has ever had. Plus they are short staffed. Then theres the phone call problem. Good luck trying to get a live person on the phone. If you leave a message dont expect to get a call back because its not going to happen. And the doctors themselves will NEVER call you back to talk to you. Sometimes you just need to explain something to your doctor but they never call you back. This is very unprofessional and just plan laziness. The other problem is that the doctors have a 15 minute time limit to see you in there office. They rush you in and out. Also, they wont treat you for multiple problems at the same office visit. If you go there for a stomach problem and you ask the doctor about your foot problem they tell you that they can only treat you for one medical problem at a time. Really? Whats the big deal if the doctor looks at your foot while youre there? This is why you need to see a doctor who has his own private practice and not a doctor who works for a company like FCFP.I honestly dont know how this place stays in business. This place needs a complete overhaul of staff. Its a real shame because there are some good doctors there but the manager will not allow them to do their job and treat their patients to the best of their ability. I know for a fact that the doctors there are not happy with their company policies. Maybe its time to find another doctor who has his own private practice. Good luck.
I wish that no stars were an option. Its a shame because Dr.Jones is the only good thing they have going. I dont know who does the hiring for the front desk ladies, but they have a skill of hiring people who dont care, attitudes, and horrendous customer service. This place has gone to CRAP in the last few years. They really need to get rid of this new management company and ALL of the ladies in the front.
This place has steadily gone down hill. I have used FCFP since 1983 and the last two years has seen customer service go from lousy to non existent. The new policy is phones are turned off from 12 1 Monday through Friday and then off again at 5 pm because of the small staff. And now they dont answer the phones at all on the weekends. If FCFP does want to deal with their customers they should just close!! Im sure the founders are rolling over in their graves!! If I could have given a zero I would have!!
