Ignacio Ripoll's Online Review Report Card

I have been struggling with post COVID vaccine issues for over a YEAR now, coughing, mucous production, off and on again pneumonia and no one could figure out what was causing it beside the vaccination. This beautiful man walks in and within LESS THAN 10 MINUTES knew what was the problem. NO ONE has ever done as much homework as Dr. Ripoll. All I could do was cry tears of relief. I love this man and his compassionate and kind staff. BRAVO Critical Care and Sleep Medicine! You have SAVED me !

The staff was arrogant and cold and male medical tech was rude. Dr Rapol was creepy to me. Made me feel uncomfortable. Wanted to talk about Religion. I will never go back, or have a sleep study again.

Dr Ripoll was attentive, did not rush and he listened.

My initial visit was wonderful, my second was the most awful. Dr. Ripoll was like a different person. He didn’t look at my chart before giving me results, asking questions about meds, not knowing I was on them even though he prescribed them. I was crying during the appointment at which point he told me I should smile or my face would get red and puffy and I certainly didn’t want that - that was a whole conversation in itself. I’m so disappointed that I put my trust and faith in him and his practice. What an awful experience. Bay view doctors have not done anything but disappoint. I will be looking for a new doctor, and would not recommend Dr. Ripoll.

I was sent to this QWACK by my primary care physician for "weight loss" as my last blood test recorded insulin levels 4 times higher than normal. I should not have even started treatment with him as he is a SLEEP specialist! He first prescribed a moderate dose of 1000mg Metformin which has been successful in treating diabetes. Only, I'm NOT diabetic as my AC1 levels were normal. When, I saw him during my next visit, he didn't check my insulin levels, in fact, he didn't even order a blood test to see if my insulin level had changed. He made an assumption because I did lose about 10lbs, my insulin level should be down. He then upped my Metformin dosage to 1500mg. After another 6 months, my weight had not changed so he also prescribed Phentermine 37.5mg. Again, three months later, my weight had NOT changed. He tried to get me on Wagovy which had just been approved by the FDA for weight loss. Unfortunately, my health insurance would not cover the $1300+/mo treatment. HE assured my I could get a "coupon" from the manufacturer for $25/mo, but again, I did not qualify for the medication price breaks. On my last visit, He tried to get me to agree to another "generic" drug that does the same thing as Wagovy (my weight had INCREASED despite the meds I had been taking) and pass it off to insurance as a "Pre-Diabetic" treatment, or have me try to be classified as "Insulin resistant". NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! After looking into OTHER meds, he then made the fateful comment that sealed his fate as a QWACK . He told me that "there are some organisms that get MORE calories out of foods than the food actually contains" WHAT?? He then tried to get me to change my diet (like THAT had never entered my mind) and become a VEGETARIAN!!! At this point I looked in the eye and told him "You don't have a freaking clue on how to deal with weight loss" PLEASE, DO NOT LET YOURSELF BE TREATED BY THIS "DOCTOR" for ANYTHING! He is ALL about having you take DRUGS to cure your ailment. He won't even do the legwork and order blood tests or labs to verify his "assumptions"! Please, PLEASE find someone else!!

I quit going to this practice. The first time I saw Dr. Ripoll he seemed very caring & checked the records I had from my MRI's and diagnosis in Brooklyn. But at my follow up appointments a breathing test was what I received. And when I met with him all he would tell me was how I had done on the breathing test. I would ask him questions about my issues. He would then quickly go back through my computer records to see what my problems were. I felt as if he were coming into the room with only information about how I had done on the breathing test. I've never had a doctor who wasn't the slightest bit familiar with my conditions when he came into the exam room. Sometimes he gave me different answers at different visits. I was very uncomfortable with this. So I switched practices.

He was my husband's Pulmonologist and now has been mine since 2006. He is honest, takes time with his patients and genuinely cares about there welfare. He is absolutely the best!

Dr Ripoll is the greatest.He really cares and he explains everything to you that is easy to understand

I went to this office for the first time today and absolutely fell in love with Dr. Ripoll. I appreciated his professionalism and his awesome care. I really felt like my life mattered. I have visited 2 other pulmonary doctor offices and Dr. Ripoll out shines them! Thank you so much for the time you took and thank you for making me feel like my life matters. I’m forever thankful!
