List of Kathryn Sullivan's Reviews
Dr. Sullivan and her staff have been professional, kind, responsive to my concerns, and her treatment plan for me has proven highly effective. When I read some of the appallingly nasty reviews here, it is hard for me to believe that the writers have dealt with the same doctor and office as I have!
Recently had bladder surgery, no one from the clinical staff called to check on me post-op, at all. I called the office about some painful symptoms I was having, the nurse dismissed it as normal. I again called as my symptoms were worse. The nurse had me come in, recorded my symptoms & said she would let the doctor know. Hours later, no one returned my call, as it was a Friday, I decided to return to the office. I was told the doctor was not going to treat me and that the pain I was experiencing does not happen as I described. Sat there going back and forth with the nurse for several minutes, describing my pain and issues. I asked repeatedly about getting an X-ray, possible antibiotic, or to be seen by the doctor, the answer from the doctor was no. The nurse's final statement was that if I was in that much pain, I should go to the ER! Stunned, demoralized, and in pain, I left. How can a medical professional can deny the pain a patient is experiencing after surgery? Stay away!!
I had a great experience seeing Dr. Sullivan. She was thorough, asked great questions, didn’t rush but was efficient and seemed empathetic and interested. I really felt heard and that isn’t always the case these days. The staff was good and I feel like they take safety in this era of COVID very seriously.
I had to find a new urologist after moving to the area, rather than make the drive back to Loudoun County. I found Dr. Sullivan to be quite refreshing compared to my two previous urology experiences. I found her thorough, knowledgeable, and caring. She took the time to answer all (and I mean all) of my questions, clearly explaining my options. When it came time for a procedure, she took the time to explain what to expect. During the procedure she explained what was going on and what was going to happen next. Her approach is matter-of-fact and professional, helping to ease discussion of sometimes awkward subjects. Most refreshing, I found that her protocol for treatment started with the least invasive options first. I would highly recommend her. I should add that every one of my appointments has started on time, if not a couple of minutes early.
Dr Sullivan always listens to all my concerns and answers all my questions very thoroughly. My appointment is always right on time. I would highly recommend her.
Unfortunately, I need to leave a poor review. Dr. Sullivan appears to be competent. However, there is a complete disconnect between the doctor and her office. Their level of patient interface is out of the dark ages. I had to move on because after a week of playing phone tag, I had had enough. There are many other urologists in the region who are board certified AND who have a better interface with patients. At a minimum Dr. Sullivan needs to add an after hours phone number. Currently the office number rolls over to the Fauquier Hospital Main line and from there it is a dead end. Other improvements would be offering telemedicine visits; online email communication; having other staff return calls when the doctor is too busy. LOTS of room for improvement and MODERINIZATION. Lots of ways to alleviate wasted time for patients.
Complete rip off. The doctor has no time to listen and I explained I had the tests they wanted done already and they did them again just to charge me more. No one listened or read my charts. They are only interested in the money they can get and gave me no help whatsoever. Avoid this place if you can.
After my surgery she was too busy to see me even though I was in so much pain and severely bleeding
If I could give 0 stars I would. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. From waiting 2 MONTHS for my appointment, I was only 8 minutes late for my appointment and the Doctor refused to see me. I didn’t even know that was possible and I wish I could turn away people at my job for any reason! I even called BEFORE my appointment because I was a little lost figuring out which building the urologist was in. I drive all the way from school at George Mason to arrive 8 minutes late to be turned away. I asked is she with another patient and they said no. I said then why can’t she see me and they didn’t say anything because there was absolutely no reason that she couldn’t see me since the waiting area was EMPTY. They also said I should’ve arrived 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. I have text messages saying nothing about arriving early and when I made the appointment nothing was mentioned. The staff was unbelievably unhelpful and didn’t even care that I have been in pain for months waiting for this appointment. My mother called as well and they said she was already with another patient so I guess my appointment would’ve been just 10 minutes anyway since they already booked the next person ten minutes after the start of my appointment. Just don’t even bother. The doctor doesn’t want new patients so just look elsewhere and if you do then good luck being in pain for about 2 months!
Dr. Sullivan is very thorough when explaining what she sees on the ultrasounds, procedures that need to be completed, and the results of a pathology report. From day one, I felt very comfortable with her. She took care of my kidney issue. I realized & can't fathom how hard her job really is to be prepared to take care of others at any moment. I'm very grateful for what she has done to help me.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
