Decided to try a new doctor as my previous one had retired. Went to the UVA clinic for my annual physical/check up. While I was there, I was asked if I had any concerns. I mentioned I had some back soreness and was prescribed medication. When I later got my bill, I was surprised at how high it was as this was an annual physical and my insurance covers them 100%. I notified UVA about this and was informed that it was billed as a standard office visit and they refused to bill it as preventative health. They stated that since I was given medication it was considered an office visit, not preventative health. I suppose this is just another attempt at UVA to get as much money as they can for services rendered. Very unethical.
