Javier A. Pou Md's Online Review Report Card

Thank you for your help in my journey to maintain my health.

I took printouts of my test results related to the condition I was seeing Dr. Pou about. He did not look at them and handed the papers back to me at the end of the visit. He spoke to me for about 10 minutes, as I had expected, he suggested scheduling me for and upper GI (the appointment was for a Sunday). I liked Dr. Pou the first time I saw him for a different condition, and now I think he only knows how to schedule procedures to pay for his expensive equipment that he has in his facility in Harrisonburg. Very disappointing.

This was the most unprofessional office I've ever seen. First, they moved and didn't alert me even though I had a consultation; they didn't even leave a sign on the door, and google maps were not updated. Then they "forgot" to tell me I needed a Covid test ahead of time (no mention of it in the paperwork) even though I assume this has been true for over a year, and then they claimed they had no way of knowing the fax with my prep stuff didn't go through even though a fax machine will let you know. They were rude and made excuses. Cancelled.. and glad I didn't let them into my body.

This guy is the absolute worst! My primary care physician referred me to him for a specific issue. He and his assistant questioned me extensively why I was using him when I had previously used another gastroenterologist. He gave me, at best, one piece of widely-known advice and then said he couldn't help me. He then tried to examine me for an unrelated issue that I told him I was already under another doctor's care for. I left before he could do it. I would not otherwise say anything but I just learned he billed my insurance for the visit. I gained nothing from it but he is such a pig he wants to get paid for it anyway.

I was referred to Dr. Pou by Sherry Mongold, NP, who highly recommended him. I must say I agree! From the very first phone call, to leaving my procedure, I cannot sing enough high praises! Everyone was polite, helpful, informative, fun, professional, caring, and the list goes on... I could also detect a strong sense of teamwork, which makes the dream work! That is so very important in any situation, especially in the medical field, as that is where I have been for the last 42 years; so I have seen a lot! I also had a follow-up visit (via Telehealth) and it was extremely user friendly and as if I were right there in the clinic. I have already recommended Dr. Pou and will continue to do so! Keep up the good work! Thank you for everything!

He has been my gastroenterologist for seven years, He and his staff are totally caring, attentive and professional with screennings. But Dr. Pou has also monitored my GI symptoms and issues with selective lab work. When I needed it, he didn't hesitate to recommend treatment by experts outside of our geographic area, which has greatly improved my health. I am so thankful he's my "gastro-guy"!! Excellent care was given to me so I would be made comfortable. Very clean and staff and physician were friendly. I have had two other colonoscopies and they were in no comparison to the service I received at Shenandoah Valley Gastroenterology Center.
