John A Stefano's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Stefano is great. He did surgery on my eyes for sudden onset glaucoma, 15 years ago. Then last year for my cataracts. My vision became next to perfect. I went to him this year, for a check up and he caught a serious retina issue. He immediately sent me to a Retina specialist. They are treating this serious issue. now. Dr. Stefano is the best. He gets 5 stars from me.

He was late into office and too many parents waiting.

I've called repeatedly for refractive lense replacement, a service that is noted on their website... Absolutely no idea what I was talking about... The fact that it more than likely wouldn't be covered under insurance... put on hold several times... and hung up on... I will be finding someone else for my consult.

No bedside manor. Waited to see him for 30 minutes and exam was five minutes. He walked in with a bad attitude because I told the front desk I only want done what Medicare covers.i told him I had cataract surgery and he said no one informed him of that. I would give below 0 if this was an option

I went to Dr. Stefani back in April regarding an “surfers eye” or a Pterygium. I wanted to get it removed because it’s very noticeable and tends to flare up making my whole eye red and itchy while also burning. He said it was too small for surgery I should try these dry eye drops first which are $174 for a monthly prescription. I tried it, and of course it didn’t work. So I made a follow up appt because now the growth has gone into my iris affecting my vision. This time he was so busy that he didn’t even give me the time of day. He treated me like routine and told me to be on my merry way. I asked then that it keeps hurting and getting bigger what do I do if it doesn’t stop? He told me well we can order a steroid prescription. So here I am two weeks after that visit worst than ever!! And guess who can’t get the prescription he told me about just two weeks ago??? This man doesn’t care to be honest. I’m a young mom in her 30s and I can’t even look people in the face. I’m tired of being in pain. I’ll go elsewhere for sure. I honestly just wanted help.

Does NOT give PD = Pupilary Distance with your regular eye examination, You need this to order glasses online, wantwd to order a second pair online. He does not sell glasses at his offices so he is not loosing any direct revenue (money). So this is a real inconvenience.

Went to see Dr Stefano and it was a disaster. His front desk staff was the only pleasant part of the visit. Went all through the cataract exam and then announced that he wouldn’t do the surgery cause I’m not vaccinated. I have respiratory issues which keep me from getting the vaccine. My daughter told him it could kill me. He shouted well she is gonna die from her respiratory issue anyway. I never meet a doctor as rude.as Dr Stefano He should let patients know ahead of time. His front desk said he doesn’t allow them to tell patients. I’m sure that’s to get our Medicare payment. He spent less then 5 minutes with me. Even if I got the shot I wouldn’t go back to him. He is Very rude and out of line.

There are no instructions on their website and they do not call to ask questions about COVID they just send you away if you ever tested positive even if you don’t have any symptoms and it’s been months since tested positive for covid and still wouldn’t let me see dr. Even if you drove all the way there from another state when gas costs $3 a gallon and doesn’t even tell you when you can come back for an appt. They make you feel like you have a disease or something. Come on and eye visit ?? You wear a mask and be honest and still gets you nowhere. Well they lost a whole Family not just one patient. My poor child was crying they made her feel terrible!

I've been seeing Dr. Stefano since 2007. He is excellent and literally saved my life. He diagnosed a very rare form of eye melanoma that only affects about 250-300 people a year in the US. He got me in to see the best ocular oncologist for my diagnosis within a week. Most importantly, he knew what he was looking at, where to send me, and what NOT to do. A biopsy, which a lot of eye doctors do to their patients, could have spread my melanoma and cost me my eye if not my life. Highly recommend Dr. Stefano as a great diagnostician.

Stefano did my cateract surgery. It was worst med experience of my life. I was 1st patient Mond morng. He was over hr late & angry & fussing @ nurses when he arrived. After surgery I had severe excruciating pain all day. @ followup visit next am, this was my chief complaint. They weren’t concerned about it. Their med records for that & other follow up visits never mentioned it. 1 month later I made them do another exam. Immediately, without explanation, they got me an emergency appt with a retinal specialist who said I had post vitreous separation, retinal tear and retinal separation. This specialist tried to repair the tear but left me with a huge floater that obstructs my vision now 2 yrs later. After 2 years of treatment, I’m left with worse vision than before. I have epiretinal membrane & a macular pucker. My brain can’t bring vision from both eyes together. Johns Hopkins says that there is nothing that can be done w/o significant downside risk. I would never recommend Stefano b/c of this &unconcerned follow up care.
