List of George B Iskander's Reviews
Dr. Iskander performed a robotic-assisted, laparoscopic hysterectomy on me and despite my fears and PTSD due to a horrible hospital experience in my teen years, it was a great experience. He is one of those rare doctors who has not lost his compassion, empathy and humanity. He was kindness and understanding personified and listen to all my fears and questions. He assured me that my experience will be exactly as I wished and he was true to his word. After the surgery, he took the time to speak to my parents in the waiting room and assured them that all went well and answered all their questions. They were also very impressed by his manner, kindness, and humanity. If you need an ob-gyn surgeon or oncology surgeon, look no further. You have found him! I would not go to anyone else.
Now a physician with Mid Atlantic Gynecologic Oncology and Pelvic Surgery Associates, Falls Church, VA, Dr. Iskander was recruited to be the surgeon for my dual Total Hysterectomy and Colon Resection laparoscopic procedures. At the pre-surgery appointment, he explained everything and was very convincing as to why I should proceed with the surgery. I agreed. During the visit, Dr. Iskander observed that I had light cellulitis of my lower legs and ordered a Venous Doppler test. Though the subsequent test fortunately identified no DVT, it did ID "venous insufficiency." As a result I was given heparin during my post op recovery in the hospital and will be following up with vascular doctors. I am so grateful for Dr. Iskander's expertise and care. His part of the dual surgeries went very, very well and in addition to the usual total hysterectomy procedures, found and removed an exploded ovary. I have recovered extremely well and could not have been in better hands!
I recently had a robotic myomectomy with Dr. George Iskander for a fibroid and it went great. He has amazing bed side manners, and he is very compassionate and caring. I felt like I was in great hands from the moment I met him. I thank you Dr. Iskander!
Dr Iskander delivered my son in 2017. I have many health issues & he helped tremendously every single step of the way. He is hands down the best Dr I have ever seen in my entire life in any field & bc of my health being a lot of medical mystery, I have seen drs and specialists of all kinds, from VA to CA! Even though gastroenterology and neurology aren’t in his field, he went to great lengths to make sure my pregnancy and delivery wasn’t only comfortable and successful, but perfect! He also removed a polyp from my cervix in 2018. I am pregnant again, and seeing another OBGYN since Dr Iskander is no longer working in the labor and delivery field, & I would honestly do anything to have him back as my OBGYN w/ this pregnancy! I can really not say enough about how amazing he was. This pregnancy, without him, compared to my last pregnancy w/him, has been terrifying with the level of care I am NOT receiving, compared to how attentive he was with me. I really wish he was still delivering..
Had someone else’s records and recommended i have a hysterectomy based on that. When I pointed out he was using the wrong record, he blamed the mistake on a nurse. Still recommended hysterectomy within the next month- no reason given other than he thought I should have one. Second opinion from a different specialist said my issues are normal for a woman of my age and no hysterectomy is indicated
Dr. Iskander was my last minute c section doctor when I was delivering my daughter during the holidays in December of 2018. Everything seemed fine until I was discharged from the hospital and went home. During the one week I was home, I felt a lot of pain and felt a huge pressure. It turns out that during surgery Dr. Iskander and his team didn’t clean my uterus out completely and left pieces of placenta inside of me. My body was contracting and laboring for a WEEK after I got home trying to dispose of the gunk that was left inside of me. This could have been the prevented if they took better care of me, this could have led to long term fertility problems for me. I didn’t even hear back from him for an apology about what I had to go through. I missed out on enjoying the first 2 weeks of my daughters life due to longer duration of recovery that I had to do. Please don’t go to him. It’s not worth it, if my body didn’t have a good immune system then I could have some serious health issues due to his negligence
Just like another patient who shared her painful experience recently, Dr. Iskander was my last minute c-section doctor at Inova Fairoaks hospital. Things were alright in the beginning but I started having pain and discomfort 2 days after the delivery. Even though I reported chills and fever, I was discharged on the third day saying these were normal post delivery symptoms. Then I went through another week of pain, chills and fever before going back to ER. Then they identified two different bacterial infections inside and severe abscess had developed. When we tried to get in touch with Dr.Iskander to get some advice, he was conveniently shielded by our ObGYN and even after multiple attempts we were never able to reach him. After having another doctor review the reports, we realized that the infections most likely happened due to the poor conditions at the operating room and procedure. But the whole medical team (doctors and ER staff) made us believe it was just my bad luck! How awful!!
I left a previous review of Dr. Iskander, rating him with one star. As everyone is entitled to freedom of speech and open source information, Dr. Iskander informed me that he read my review. When he said that, I was nervous that he was going to become upset during our appointment. However, he surprised me and we had a very professional conversation about my review. Dr. Iskander seemed humbled by my experience with him and continuously reassured me that he only wants what is best for me. I was in an extreme amount of pain postpartum, and regardless of my review, he treated me as a person and helped me heal. I stand by my first review, however, credit must be given where it is due. I can only hope that my feedback helps Dr. Iskander better communicate with and treat his patients, for I do believe that he wants them to have an enjoyable and safe pre and postpartum experience.

Dr. Iskander is my current OB and he is great. He is kind, very knowledgeable and has great bedside manners. He explains things thoroughly and is patient with any question I may have.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
