Dr. Shonuga is one of the best surgeons in the field. He knows his craft well and is dedicated to his patients. He will educate you on the surgery and give you confidence on the outcome. Thank you again for your expertise Dr. Shonuga.
Owolabi shonuga best Orthopaedic surgeon in the Virginia area remove a metal that was in my wrist was a really delicate procedure but he did his best and removed the metal now I feel great
Dr. Shonuga repaired my broken wrist. From the initial consultation to my final appointment, my experience can only be described as professional and caring. Dr. Shonuga explained the nature of my broken wrist and discussed various options along with what a recovery might look like. He is an excellent surgeon. I followed his instructions regarding recovery and had very competent physical therapy. I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for this doctor. Plus, I am back to playing tennis.
Dr. Shonuga is a great surgeon who performed surgery on my in February 2023. He genuinely cares about his patients answering all questions and explains the conditions patients deal with and the best treatment option. Thankful that Dr. Shonuga was my doctor who addressed my issues.
Recommendation: I do not recommend this doctor. My initial experience with Dr. Shonuga was okay. When I learned he was an expert I decided to book one appointment for my left and right wrist. I was initially being seen for my left shoulder and transpired into being seen for my left wrist at NOVA Orthopedic alternate facility. My left wrist still has severe pain after surgery. So, I scheduled a follow-up for a second opinion with a Wrist Specialist. The facility would book and bill me for each wrist individually. The day of my appointment Dr. Shonuga would not assess my left wrist. He would only speak of my right wrist and told me to go back to the doctor I was seen for my left wrist. I told Dr. Shongua that I scheduled to be seen for both wrist by the same person and have my VA - Carpal Tunnel sheet completed (for military). Dr. Shongua response was, he has spent 15 minutes with me and it was time he moved on to his next customer. He was cold, robotic, and lacked empathy. I do not consider his an expert nor a professional. If a general doctor looked at my left wrist, as a subject matter expert in carpal tunnel he should have taken the time to provide medical attention for my left and right wrist. I had a follow-up appointment with the physical therapist. The day of my appointment he told the physical therapist to cancel my appointment. I received the call that my appointment was canceled by him as I was driving to my appointment.
Awesome and compassionate doctor. Without hesitation I recommend him for hand procedures and surgery.
He saved my sons life. He is the reason my son Sedid Elham is not having any Seizures anymore. Thank you Dr.
Broke two fingers at work. I had pretty significant damage, but his work got me back to 100% in no time! I cannot understate, Dr. Shonuga delivers excellent surgery and professionalism! Thank you so much!
Allowed this incompetent doctor to conduct trigger finger surgery on three of my fingers one of which became infected after the 6 week healing period. I was given some excuse that he couldn't go back to the surgery center where it was performed...the alternate location didn't accept my insurance. He offered to do it free but I was given a date that I told them I couldn't do because my spouse was out of town. I was told I could use Uber-Health so I said okay, then the day before I was told I had to have someone I knew bring me and take me home...scrambled around and thought I had it sorted but then the person backed out. When I canceled the next morning the surgical coordinator had the audacity to yell at me...talk about unprofessional. I asked for an alternative date, I was told no and that I needed to go to the emergency room to have it dealt with. I asked for an MRI or CT to make sure there wasn't some additional underlying issue. Nope, I needed to go to the emergency room. Not we'll coordinate that...or help you transition to another doctor. Now two of three fingers are substantially worse than before the surgery...something I regret to say the least. In retrospect it probably wouldn't have got infected had he put me on antibiotics following the surgery. Bottom line is DO NOT TRUST this guy or his staff to follow through if something goes wrong.
Dr. Shonuga was very caring and professionally. It was my first surgery in my life so I was very concerned and a little nervous about it but he assured me they will take good care of me and they sure did take great care of my surgery beyond my expectations. I was in and out like it never happened but off course also took time to answer all my questions and concerns and in-depth explanations of what the surgery entails as well as any related information to the surger. I must say I liked the song he was playing in the background during the surgery though.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
