Dr. Pratik Desai is amazing He has helped me through a very difficult time with a liver biopsy that became infected and included a UTI and multiple bladder and gallbladder issues.Throughout my ordeal he has displayed professional expertise and most importantly compassionate support. I highly recommend him and his practice.

If you are looking for THE WORST experience of your life in terms of scheduling an important medical procedure Potomac Urology is your place. Not only did they keep on pushing our critical procedure further and further every time we spoke they made it seem like they had no idea what we were talking about. I had several detailed 45 minutes long at times conversations with multiple people about scheduling a procedure and was finally able to come to an agreement to get it scheduled. Few days later I get a follow up call from the same person I spoke with several times asking for us to schedule our procedure way further in future than what was discussed. To top that while asking for us to schedule thisfuture appointment this person had no regards to our condition or our prior conversations. Unfortunately we had spent so much time and energy with their office by that time our medical condition was also worsening while this was going on it was difficult for us to leave amp look for someone else. Its also unfortunate that patients are just treated as numbers at this office and no damn is given to the severity of their conditions.

Dr. Klein and staff were awesome with my Kidney cancer issues. Very professional and trustworthy. Dr. Klein was spot on about the surgery and recovery time.

Avoid this practice at all costs...they dont care about people they only care about making money. Its COVID season and they offer virtual appointments but dont have a way to pay for services online so they require you to give credit card information over the phone per front desk receptionist Sonya. They even said if I dont give my credit card information over the phone theyre going to cancel my appointment and I would be forced to reschedule my appointment and come in to the office. Poor poor poor customer service and no care for customers.

I personally have had a good experience when going to the doctor Dasai myself. My mother referred me to him in the past and right now we are dealing with some medical issues for my mother. However in the past 1 to 2 weeks I have had a not so satisfactory experience with this clinic. For one thing my mother is homebound right now and the doctor apparently made a special exception to do a virtual visit with my mother. Her primary care provider has no problem providing online visits as much as needed why does her urologist not do the same?  I would expect that having gone through the pandemic online services would be readily available. Today we had a follow up with the doctor online and this time he could not hear us very well because of background noise on his end. Why would someone have a virtual visit and not find a quieter place to have the appointment?  A third issue and perhaps the most pronounced issue of all is the treatment I felt from his administrative team when trying to work out a situation with a prescription he wrote for my mother. Her Medicare insurance according to the doctor does not cover the type of medication he prescribed. However her insurance has what is known as a tier exception meaning they can provide reduced pricing based upon the tier she falls under. It simply required a quick phone call between the doctor and her Insurance provider. That apparently was a hassle for the administrative team to take the time to get through to my moms insurance which apparently they claim they do not have time for. DO NOT HAVE TIME  FOR?? Are you serious? Thats what we pay you for Borrowing a hospital term this is not what I would consider proper bedside manner. It smacks to me of a clinic that is understaffed and perhaps underpaid. The fact that the doctor had noise background during his online visit today also told me that they are behind in their work andor understaffed or trying to bite off more than they can chew. If they cant handle that many patients then just tell the newer ones that they cant take them any more and refer them elsewhere. It isnt fair to those who have been with the practice a while to receive less than optimal treatment.

Wife got referred through TRICARE.For the first two weeks it was a constant game of the desk agents losing the TRICARE authorization receiving it not receiving it etc. 2 weeks prior to appointment we finally received confirmation they had the authorization. They wouldnt schedule the appointment without the authorization letter faxed to them. It was faxed at least 4 times. 2 days before the appt they called to say they didnt have authorization. WHAT A PAIN. Then she gets seen and the doctor prescribes a medication that TRICARE doesnt cover. Ok this happens sometimes. Doctor generously offers a coupon for $20 approx cost of medicine. Well no pharmacy in a 10 mile radius carries this medicine. We call back and request a substitute. They tell us there is no substitute medicine other than a generic brand. Generic brand is $300 out of pocket with coupon I really would not recommend this place for any TRICARE referrals. Please request a different urology clinic for your family.

Was referred here due to a possible kidney stone. I was seen by Dr. Patrik Desai so he could evaluate an ultrasound scan I received earlier that day to check for the presence of a kidney stone. Dr. Desai did not read the notes from the ultrasound tech and instead decided to look at the scans himself and determined there was no kidney stone. So he sent me to get a CT scan that cost around $500. It took me about a week to get the scan done and once I did it came back clear. So I went back to my PCP for the next steps. First thing she does is pull out the notes from the ultrasound and says “Looks like it was a kidney stone” to my surprise. I asked her how could that be the urologist Dr. Desai said there wasn’t one hence the CT scan. She said he must have not read the notes because it was literally right there in the notes “Kidney stone in upper right quadrant of left kidney”. Since then I have been trying to contact Potomac Urology and Dr. Desai about this because I now owe $500 for a CT scan that I never needed. It has been almost 5 months now with no return call no communication and no resolution. I’m at the point where I’m considering suing this place because they are literally giving me the cold shoulder. I’ve called almost every day. I’ve left voicemails. I’ve done all I can do.Absolutely unprofessional and downright ridiculous how this place operates. Avoid at all costs because it will cost you.

bad experience with this group and its staff I do not recommend it at all patients should always be before the interests of this group and more when receipts for payments are not received And cancel the appointment for this reason

Very frustrated because I waited 45 minutes to be seen paid $55 just so the dr can tell me in literally 5 minutes that he can’t do anything with out a CT scan they could’ve called me to tell me this instead of me literally wasting $55 I’m basically just giving my money away at this point. They’re very inconsiderate
