I was a patient of Dr. Guptas for years. He is absolutely impossible to get a hold of it takes weeks of constant calling to get through to his office and get simple questions answered. He is also incredibly unhelpful. When he put me on a very expensive medication and I mentioned my concerns about the cost, he said there was nothing he could do. One of his staff told me about the discount membership program, not him. As other reviews have mentioned, he is very arrogant. When I told him that one of the medications I was on was causing me to rapidly gain weight and I was concerned about this, he laughed it off and told me to cut out carbs. Besides the fact that cutting out carbs is not healthy, how does that help the problem!? Lastly, he is negligent towards his patients. I was simultaneously on two prescriptions from him for years. He suddenly denied my request for one of the medications, offering no explanation. It took me two months of calling to get in contact with his office and find out that he said I did not need to be on both medications, despite the fact that he had been refilling the prescriptions for years. I was so dismayed and frustrated hundreds of dollars spent on a medication I didnt need to be on, only to have the prescription cancelled with no explanation.
I have never spoken to a more arrogant doctor than Pradeep Gupta. He was quick to tell me that he “has been doing this for 26 years”. When I told him I got the run around from his office he said “in 26 years I have never been spoken to this way. You need to find another doctor”. Its my guess that its not the first time he has heard his office gave someone the run around.
After receiving a referral from my doctor to schedule an appointment with Pradeep Gupta, I called his office and got the run around. Mostly over concerns of verifying insurance before they would schedule anything. THEN, Pradeed Gupta himself called me. After patronizing me about a national crisis and how he was doing me a favor, I informed him that I got the run around from his office and he did not need to patronize me. He was quick to tell me he has been doing this for 26 years and has never been spoken to that way. My guess is Im not the first or the last to complain about the service from his office. I have never encountered such arrogance from a medical Professional. I use that term lightly because he was anything BUT professional. I would never recommend using his practice.
Dr. Gupta has been my Gastro doctor for about 20 years, first diagnosing my hiatal hernia, and then prescribing medications and performs colonoscopies and endoscopies periodically ever since. He is an excellent doctor. He has always been thorough, given me excellent advice and the best medications for my condition, and has performed the procedures with care and no discomfort. He has consistently reported to me what he has found and what he has done while he had me under anesthesia. I recommend him highly and am fortunate to have him as my doctor.
Trying to reach anyone at this office is next to impossible. They do not return calls if you manage to leave a voicemail. More importantly, they did not treat a disabled patient with respect and patience. This patient was unable to speak and they vilified him from the start, calling him aggressive for tapping on the window for assistance. They wrote things down for him, instead of just speaking to him, as though someone who is mute must be deaf as well. When asked about whether they had experience communicating with mute patients, they said, "We have patients who are way worse." I asked what they meant by that and they said they have patients who have cancer and know they will die soon. I still don't understand how that was relevant. This is a patient who had no problems in the past, when he was still able to speak and does not have issues with other physicians. They stated that this was a "high quality practice and [they] can't have patients like [my parent]." I would absolutely recommend that you go elsewhere.
Dr. Gupta is experienced and caring but highly dissatisfied with lack of customer service. My impression is as if their main goal is rather "business" than "quality health care service". I really thought I finally found good GI doctor I can regularly visit for my problem, however it is very said that how things are handled and ran at the office. First, as many said, it is literally impossible to get in touch with anyone in the office and never receive a call back after leaving a message. Is it a policy not to take or return calls so that people would have come in anyway or else pay No Show fee of $50? I know it is all about business afterall (sadly), but please please do the right thing for the people who are in desperate needs to take care of their health care problems.
Never use this practice! I was refereed by my physician to this doctor and could not schedule an appointment. The receptionist was rude asking number of questions about insurance constantly assuming I have a poor insurance. Later, when I was asked for the reason to see the GI, they refused me saying they only accept patient who "change/transfer practices" and that doctor does not wish to have any "second opinion" patients. Stay away from this people, all they care about is making $$$ of you.
Dr. Gupta is a great communicator. Very kind and efficient staff. Great experience. These guys have it totally dialed in.
staff gave incorrect follow up instructions and dr was very rude during visit, hard to reach when I wanted to clarify a mix up
Terrible staff, cant get ahold of anyone and hard time scheduling. Dr and staff dont communicate and get mixed messages on what to do.
Nightmare trying to reach anyone on line. I've been trying for 45 minutes so far. Dropped from hold 5 times. Sent to a voice mail once. Still waiting.
Dr. Gupta is a terrific physician, very caring and extremely skilled. I can recommend him very highly. His office has been very easy to work with, I just rescheduled an appointment easily.
While I am confident Dr. Gupta is a fantastic doctor, when you spend a week preparing for a colonoscopy and get 17 minutes of his time (including the two minute discussion afterwards), at which time he is upset because you werent clean enough even though you followed all the instructions, I have to wonder if it was worth is to see him. Luckily, nothing was found, but he gave me three years to come back because there were a couple of areas he couldnt see because of small bits of food. I have had two previous colonoscopies that were perfect. I had questions before the test about the prep and actually went to his Annandale office and spoke to the nurse there. If you try calling the offices, you NEVER GET A CALL BACK. She gave me further instructions, which I followed. Now, I find out that they were wrong. Who pays for this? Me. There have to be other doctors out there with smaller practices who can pay more attention to their patients. He just checked boxes and walked away.
Dr. Gupta and the staff was very good about telling me about the procedure, they ask if I had any questions. This is the second time I had a colonoscopy done by Dr. Gupta, very good service.
Horrible I recommend you guys not to go there
Dr. Gupta was very professional and explained the colonoscopy procedure to me during the initial consultation. During the day of the procedure, he explained the procedure to me again and then after the procedure, explained to me and my wife that he found a polyp and I was to return for another colonoscopy in 5 years. He is a very calm and gentle doctor. I did not have any issues with the office as the other reviewers on this site.
This rating may not be fair to the Dr. and other staffs but I had to write. I was referred to Dr. Gupta by my PCP. While I do not have much to complain about his practice and previous encounters with the office, I think this practice needs to take a better look at its staffing. I saw similar review about how rude the people at this office are. I called to double check that my procedure on Friday was cancelled (I received a reminder even after cancelling it on the phone the very same day), and I received a very unpleasant phone call from that office. First, I was accused of cancelling the procedure 4 times (with an attitude) already, even though this was my first time to call and cancel this procedure. Second, the scheduler had the nerve to ask me that if we reschedule for next week, will I be feeling fine by then. Put this way, it is not so bad ... but add the attitude I mentioned earlier, and you can picture the conversation. Third, the scheduler added that they have to contact the facility, my insurance etc for each schedules. All of the above led me to ask the following: Am I the only one whos had to reschedule ever? Isnt that part of their job? Am I not allowed to reschedule within a reasonable advance notice? Is this a right way to speak to a patient? I do not think so. As one can imagine, I got through the call irritated but polite. Decided to call back to reschedule. The truth is, they have lost me as a patient. My gut feeling told me to drop the facility and stop dealing with them. I do not have to go through such nastiness for a simple cancellation. Sad but ... oh well. Oh and ... try calling the office during lunch, office closure, weekends, you will not even be able to leave a message.
I have been a patient for about 18 months. Dr. Gupta is a very cheerful presence, but always in a rush. This description applies in both the hospital and physicians office settings. When I am with him it feels like his stopwatch is running and he doesnt have time to listen carefully or fully engage in a productive medical interview, dialogue and assessment. He demonstrates a disdain and impatience with explanations of test results. His attitude is, trust me, not a desire or willingness to educate and empower the patient with information. He may have an outstanding education, but he has not resolved my GI issue or demonstrated a real concern and desire to get to the bottom of it.
I had an endoscopy and an ultrasound with Dr. Gupta and he never called or had his office call to followup to tell me the results. Furthermore, I was supposed to be on medicine and he nor his office ever told me; I had to call to followup. They are terrible at followup and Dr. Gupta only spent maybe 5 minutes with me when he did see me. I am switching to another doctor.
