Be VERY careful. I decided to check myself in because, for the first time in my life, I felt like I needed serious and intensive dual diagnosis assistance (addiction recovery and mental health services). After a brief check-in process, I was dumped into the middle of the facility with no guidance, or recovery plan, to fend for myself. After two full days of wandering into various group counseling sessions and doing my best to go with the flow it became clear that the staff is not properly trained or educated to provide mental health treatment. When you start asking real questions (may I please see a physician, who is the medical director, when will I see a licensed therapist, etc.) the staff (mostly recovered addicts, young, no formal education, but personable and kind) becomes flustered and often do not know the answers. Their philosophy: you and the other patients are there to figure out how to get better with each other - on your own - with staff to supervise your conduct for safety. Nothing more. I decided it was time to check myself out when I forced a meeting with a “therapist” (self-titled) after two days of asking the nursing staff to see a physician. There are no doctors on staff, only a single nurse practitioner who is gruff, abrupt, and speaks English as a second language. If you go to Valley Vista, PLEASE be sure that you can advocate for yourself. If you cannot they will ignore you. This is NOT the place to go if you need a structured environment staffed with mental health professionals. At BEST they should be forced to reform every aspect of their process.
Beware don't go there. Most have no experience and just read out of books or printed things off the computer. Valley Vista must have found Therapist Mark at a yard sale in the free box's cause he's useless for his job title. Dan the RA acts my like a corrections officer then anything. Alot of good great folks there who like to help but the place is a joke. Find a better place before u go there.
Awesome place to get help if your serious. Really helped me wanting to stay sober. My experience was life changing and I miss it and the people I met there. I see a lot of comments about the food being bad, it’s not bad at all and you can eat as much as you want. They have a juice bar, cereal bar, fruits, bagels on deck 24 hrs a day. Oh yea and milk and coffee all day. I think you get 8 smoke breaks which is really nice. I really do miss it I met really cool people there. Had to leave a 5 star review good luck !
I spent 19 days there. 90% of the staff is amazing. Actually everyone except the new director they just got were amazing. He was awkward and deliberately said he didn't care about us because he would never see us again. The food was SO BAD. Other than that I enjoyed it and plan to continue my sobriety.
Absolutely loved this center when I left, this place has really decent choices of food to choose from, decent beds, very easy going environment laid back... councilors are awesome.... recommend this center above any else in it's same classification in VT or upstate NY..... I went to another center in ogdensburg New York called "Hamilton hall" and was a nightmare had seizure from medicine they gave me listed on my known allergies I was unaware of and nurse slapped my face thinking I was overdosed when I went in there with sober time already, with same food as a prison next door....awful....Valley Vista was a miracle compared to Hamilton Hall
Looking up places to help a relative and I have to say, all the low star ratings should be taken seriously. Seems like the owner can not even take responsibility, correct whatever issues clients may have experienced, or even bother to offer an ear to listen to those problems. Nope, instead they get a smart comment saying "Sorry, other people say or experienced different". Does that mean that those experience should not be investigated or taken seriously? It speaks volumes of what the experience my relative may have, and we are defiantly looking elsewhere.
This is an excellent dual diagnosis facility. Wonderful staff on the ladies wing. The food could use improvement
There treatment was more about medicating the patient and playing head games with both the patient and visiting family.. many times we would arrive at stated visiting hrs to find they changed and no attempt to advise others.. The staff would try and push everyone's emotions to the breaking point and when that didn't work then the lies .. tried many many times to talk to the owner and not once in 30 days would he respond.. any family they felt might encourage patient to check out the lies again would begin and said family would be stopped from future visiting..$$.. they treat family of patient as being way below them and feel they know best.. To much drama to mention here... Over the aditude gets a D- ...
I have to say that Valley Vista saved my life and for that I will be forever grateful, thankful. B-Side I have to say that it's been the best detox/21 day place I have admitted myself I'm too ( been to a lot). The staff was really good had working and tried to help you when they could(green shirts you guys rock). And the therapist are really good they will make you start doing work if your serious and it's about you so yeah you have to hunt them down... Is a very clean facility, and food was the best food I ever ate at a detox. And they are are always friendly. The best part of the whole stay was all the solid, tight, sober, group of guys I might. The worst part is that the nurse with all they are up against there hands are tied, with no doctor on site they can't properly do their job, have to call a doctor in or on Skype😰
As a loved one I wanted to make sure that my brother who voluntarily placed himself in rehab to better his life wouldnt be abused. We talked with staff to see what items he could bring.. They told us and we bought items to ensure his stay was as comfortable as possible. when we arrived me, my brother and girlfriend went in the building with his items. we asked the staff on more than one occasion to go through his things and whatever he cannot have we will bring home. it is a 3hr round trip drive so we were absolutely clear about "let us know what he cant bring". they said everything was ok. within 24 hrs. A guy named chance called me. He asked me if I was visiting sunday and we dropped him off on friday. He said he needed to know what items i am bringing on sunday. I was not sure yet because i didnt know. I asked if i could call him back in 20 minutes and he said "no its saterday and I want to go home! Then i could hear my brother in the back round saying they did not give him back things we bought him after we left and was being treated like punishment not rehab so far...The call was disturbing and left me sleepless, worried for my brother. They gave me heavy anxiety and i am not even a patient..By the way 2 of the few items the do allow are candy and cigarettes...thats NO GOOD for addicts.. Its too bad all these places are just insurance scams..and once the employees have power. they abuse it. Ben stiller did a good impression of these places in the movie (meet the parents) everythings cool till the door closes and you cant see what they are doing..( a few days later). He seemed ok.. they gave him most items back..he can use the phone sometimes,. They can't go outside. The good part is they have good food and meetings all the time and work with their councilor's. Although They changed our visit day and time with no notice, and I live a good hour and a half away. I'm glad there is a place to go, Other than that..I haven't actually stayed there so????? Just another place to jump through hoops...

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
