Edward M. Turpin's Online Review Report Card

I had a Zoom office visit with him today. He is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He explains things in detail so that you understand them . I’d definitely recommend him .

I've visited his office about four times. Twice the staff claims I am 30 minutes late when I was on time. They insist that I must reschedule my appointment. Today it happened for the second time. I had my appointment in my calendar in my phone. Set it up after speaking with the staff. They had to reschedule due to a mistake on their part. I show up on time and they refuse to let me go back even though there a no patients seen or heard in the office. I explained I am chronically ill and that I had to take leave without pay to come to the appointment. They insist on rescheduling my appointment to which I said I cannot and I don't know when I can come back. I won't be going back. If I receive a bill for no-show, which is illegal in Alabama, I will immediately file suit against them. This is unacceptable treatment of customers and sick people. If you are heartless and sociopathic (not capable of empathy) then you should not be working in health care. They aren't making an example of me when I did nothing wrong. I came on time and they just want to act like @&&holes. I will be writing to the medical board or other authorities who need to know about their office staff practices. Furthermore they have not sent the appropriate documentation to my insurance company who sent a letter telling me to take it there to notify them that they have not sent the requisite documentation. Seems to me all these young people are sociopaths who care about not one person but themselves. They probably treat stray dogs better than their fellow human beings. I'm angry and saddened that young people behave this way and have no respect for others. The narcissistic me me me generation. I'll never return to his office and if he is wide he will review the work ethic of and fire most of his staff. There are a couple of nice ladies there. The rest are rude and obnoxious.

I was seeing Dr Hearn annually for my narcolepsy but switched to Dr Turpin when Dr Hearn moved away. Nothing negative to say about Dr Turpin himself (based on the 5 min I spent w/him), but his office staff is terrible - lied, lost or dismissed paperwork, didn't return calls, mismanaged records, etc. And since you deal w/the staff alot more than the actual doc, this was a ahowstopper for me. Found a great sleep clinic w/good doc & fantastic staff!

Saw Dr. Turpin in 2009. I now go once a year to see Dr. Turpin, but I'm only rushed in to change my mask. In 2010 this was ok because the assistant actually worked with my CPAP to make a few adjustments and to give it a good check up. In 2011 there was a new assistant who handed me a mask. This was after showing up for my original appointent only to be told that the office had switched computer systems and had dropped my original appointment. I was basically told it was my fault for showing up (didn't we call you? - NO!) In both years that I physically didn't see Dr. Turpin my insurance was charged for seeing the Doctor.Now I'm being double billed for a copay. I have the cleared check showing payment but can't get his billing folks to actually answer the phone.

Dr. Turpin is a salesman first and always. the test and reviews he conduct appear to alway lead to to you getting a CPAP machine. Which OBTW he get kickback for selling or has a financial interest in. For real help with sleep apnea look elsewhere!!

Dr. Turpin was very unkind, abrupt, accusatory, miffed, impatient, rude and egotistical. He was angry that I had been to other doctors, over the previous 17 years, that i was well informed on the subject of sleep disorders and had intelligent questions. He said he thought I questioned his authority and acted very critical and told me that he could not work with me. This was after 2 sleep studies and 3 or 4 appointments with him, and buying a CPAP from him, which did not help at all. I was stunned and humiliated. He left the room with no further instructions of advice, until I called him back in and listedned to him rudely tell me to just live with it. I have never in my life been treated this way by another human being. It's hard to believe he actually works (or worked) as a psychiatrist also.

First seeing this doc they were already sizing me up for a CPAP machine before I saw the doctor. After sleep study was done they were ready with the CPAP machine that day and charged me twice what I should have been. Follow ups with complaints of still being tired were ignored, with a request to have my physition prescribe any sleep meds for insomnia and to come back in a year. THis while I was complaining of being tired and the current treatment was not working.
