James T. Boyd's Online Review Report Card

Dr Boyd is my father's doctor. He was diagnosed with PD in 2008. Dr. Boyd is very caring and has an excellent understanding of the issues associated with PD and really cares about his patients. He has been a great resource and asset to our family, and I am sure other patients! Thank you, Dr. Boyd!

If you want the worst possible care, humiliation, and complete disregard for your life, this man and the team that he works with should be your choice. If you want treatment and value your life, look elsewhere.

On 12/25- I Had A Seizure At My Parents House, My Dad Gave Me Seizure Medication. I Then had A Second Seizure, I Was Taken To The Saranac Lake Hospital Where I Had A Third Seizure. In The Early Morning Hours, Of 12/26- I Was Transported To The University Of Vermont Medical Center. My Neurologist Was, Dr. James T. Boyd. In My Opinion Dr. Boyd, Is The Best Neurologist That Has Ever Taken Care Of Me. Plus, Being The Nicest And Kindness Physician, Caring For My Brain Disorder Known As Epilepsy. On 12/27- I Woke Up From My Break Through Seizures, I Knew I Was In Burlington Vermont. I Knew This Since My Mom Had Left My Glasses And Cell Phone. After Turning On My Cell Phone I Read The Location Burlington On My Phone. I Was Admitted To McClurg Room 23. On 12/27- An Incredible Young Woman Walked In My Room And She Said Good Morning To Me. She Was My Nurse And Her Name Was Katie. I Would Like Katie To Know How Much I Appreciated Her Being My Nurse And Friend. My Nurse Katie Was Always So Nice And So Kind To Me. I Will Always Remember Having The Best Nurse Taking Care Of Me. On 12/28- I Had A New Nurse Caring For Me, His Name Was Mike. Thank You Katie & Mike For Looking After Me And Taking Great Care Of Me. Every Morning Dr. Boyd Would Come By My Bed To Discuss My Progress, Explain Why I Had These Seizures And How We Can Take Precautions To Prevent Me From Having Seizures In The Future. I Had The Greatest Nurses And So Many Licensed Nursing Assistants, Caring For Me. My Experience At The University Of Vermont Medical Center Was Out Standing. In My Eyes I Had The Best Neurologist Taking Care Of Me. I'll Follow Everything I Was Told To Do In Taking My Seizure Medications. I Want To Thank Everyone That Had A Part In Caring For Me. My Physical Therapist, Case Manager. I Hope Im Not Leaving Anyone Out. The University Of Vermont Medical Center Is The BEST Hospital! THANK YOU Dr. Boyd And A Special Thanks To All The Nurses That Took Great Care Of Me. One star is too many for James Boyd. There is absolutely nothing positive to say about him, as his treatment was unprofessional, rushed, careless and downright painful. He literally missed an intended injection site because of his carelessness, causing severe, unnecessary pain. He does not take the time to listen or offer any follow-through. In fact, his attitude was that I probably wouldn't get better anyway, so why bother finding the advanced care I needed? He initially lied about his alleged expertise, first claiming he had dealt with the lingual nerve damage issues I had, but then saying he had no experience in this area whatsoever! Nor did he bother to connect me with any other doctors who had the expertise necessary to help me--either in or outside UVMC. I was just left to rot. Adding insult to injury, Boyd falsified the medical report and exam record to make it seem as though there was no urgent or emergency situation--which was the only reason I had gone to see him! Adding insult to injury, he padded the bill by adding a bogus general neurology exam which was not at all required, since I had specifically gone for what was supposed to be very specific, highly specialized care. Never once did he call to see how I was doing after the wasted appointment, and my calling to report that I had been hurt by his rapid-fire injections (Could you imagine getting six injections in your face within less than 90 seconds, with the rushing doctor repeatedly saying he was running late for his next appointment?). Boyd has no respect for patients who are older or on Medicaid, as I learned first-hand. This is a doctor who has zero compassion, does not care about patient well-being, does not see debilitating problems through, is beyond arrogant, and should not be practicing medicine. If you want a good neurologist who will take your problems and care seriously, stay far away from this man!

Very poor patient relations with calling back about needing to be seen. I called them under high priority needs and have been waiting for 3 days for a simple call back for an appointment. Not pleased with this office

Dr. Boyd is knowledgeable and approachable. He like to be called JIM which breaks down barriers. One time when no orderly was available, he wheeled me in a wheel chair.He does whatever it takes to get the job done. He has been my Doctor of choice for over twenty years. D.P.A. M. Ed. (ret)

Dr Boyd is very knowledgable and a pleasure to see as a patient.

Wish all doctors were as kind and professional.

Dr. Boyd always listens to me he knows when my complaints of pain are serious and is very prompt in getting me the test and procedures needed to find comfort.(cervical disc fusion) He is very patient and explains everything you happen to be going through in understandable detail.
