She was extremely unprofessional. The quality of psychiatric services in this state is notoriously bad, even according to the MD's themselves. This in itself is frightening. I had asked her to read some documents regarding a specific treatment prior to our visit. I had done a lot of research and wanted to have a respectful dialogue about my treatment, which is a King's Ransom with this provider. She was very cordial until I respectfully corrected her regarding the pharmacokinetics of a specific drug. She immediately became visibly upset by this comment. At no time did I disrespect her. If I hadn't pointed out her misunderstanding, I would have been sacrificing my care for her emotions. When I said "as a patient, I'm entitled to a say in how I am treated, she went from upset to angry. She then told me, while extremely flustered, that our time had run out. I said, that I had been told we had an hour. It had been 33 minutes. The appt. ended with her hanging up on me.
