List of Christine Northrup Md's Reviews
Always interested in me personally and takes the time to listen
Thought I may have had a stroke and got in to see her as my regular doc was on vacation. She kept me waiting 35 minutes and spent 5 with me. Looked in my ears and didn't check anything else. I tried asking her questions and explaining what happened exactly, and tried to give her a bit of history (I had written all of that down so as to be concise). She said, "You have a problem you don't worry because you go to the Dr. and the Dr. tells you what it is and then you know and don't worry about it." WHAT?! And then she suggested antidepressants because I was anxious.
Best Dr. I went to for 25 yrs until she left Yarmouth, ME. She saved me in my 20's from making some bad health decisions. Now I am 60 and thankful everyday for her advice.
I was misdiagnosed and ignored and now I have irreversible damage because the wrong and/or lack of decisions were made. I was also prescribed a combo of drugs that could have killed me ... luckily, the pharmacist caught it. For every day, run of the mill issues, she is fine. But if it is something serious, I would suggest looking for another provider.
I was a patient for many years. This Doctor’s dismissive quality lead me to surgery and serious lifelong consequences for something that was obvious and for which I should have been referred to a specialist. By chance another doctor easily diagnosed the severity and within two weeks I had surgery for a serious condition. Sadly, I had waited too long and will require lifelong treatment. I was an otherwise healthy person. This doctor has a way of making patients feel like they are overreacting and seems lackadaisical about referring to specialists.
Dr. Northrup is a knowledgeable, kind, no-nonsense provider who has provided me with top notch expertise in healthcare and referrals, and has gone out of her way to meet my needs for over twenty years.
Dismissive and minimizes potentially serious conditions. Over the years with Dr Northrup as my primary care doctor I have had doctors I have had to go to in other areas question why my (serious) health issues were not being addressed. When I’ve explained what I had been told by Dr Northrup about my condition,I have been told that many of these do not make sense. Dr Northrup does not seem to believe in sending her patients to specialist or for potentially important testing. I now know that I have a serious condition that requires surgery. Go elsewhere.
She was my primary care doctor for a number of years. Every visit I was misdiagnosed after only spending a very brief visit with me. I switched providers after I came in knowing I had a specific infection and was told I didn't and refused testing. Two days later, I ended up in the ER needing a CAT scan for the infection I knew I had. Would've saved me a lot of pain, radiation, and money if she had just listened to me!
Dr. Northrup's been my primary care physician since around 2000, and I've always been very satisfied with her care.
She acted extremely inappropriately and insensitively to me, making fun of my psychological conditions, and wrongly connecting them with my pleading for her to help me find a specialist to diagnose my pain disorder (finally diagnosed later with 2 chronic illnesses when I switched to another primary doctor). When I firmly, but politely, asked her to please help me find an answer to my physical pain, she looked at me and said, half laughing, "Has anyone ever diagnosed you with borderline personality disorder?" Taken aback, since that was not the subject at hand, I said something along the lines of, "Uh, I think some psychiatrist might have considered it once" (though it had never been officially diagnosed, and in fact, was later confirmed NOT to be one of my diagnoses). She sneered at me and said, "I can tell." What a horrible thing to say to someone suffering trauma and debilitating pain every day? I left the practice then and there, crying my eyes out.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
