David Shiple's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Shiple has always answered my questions and explained tests and procedures thoroughly during yearly office visits. I'm particularly grateful for his taking the extra time and care needed to perform cataract surgery on my eye that had suffered structural damage in an accident 35 yrs. ago. "Slowly and carefully" I heard him describe the surgery that resulted in the successful insertion of a new lens. I'm very grateful and appreciate not only his professional expertise, but his thoughtful care and time during the surgery.

My mother is in her 80's and had cataract surgery. The guy that put the IV in ignored her when she said it hurt and after ripped off the adhesive. Her hand and wrist turned black from bruising. We made sure Dr. Siple knew this with photographs. At the post-op after I reiterated this and said it sounded like the guy was being a jerk Siple went off on me in a very condescending way. And he made an excuse that his colleague was probably having a bad day. That's not an excuse and Siple should have understood why we were upset but he chose to escalate the situation instead of understanding why I might be upset about how the guy treated my mother. He actually asked my mother (in a condescending tone) if she could discuss things without name calling. I told him not to talk to her like that. I would NEVER EVER recommend Siple to anyone.

Staff is very friendly and competent. Dr. Shiple is also a “people person” and individualizes his consultations and recommendations to the expressed concerns and preferences of his patients. He listens. All services are comfortably provided with attention to all the necessary details of best practice and reflect a true professional. I have been very pleased and feel I received excellent services.

Excellent care but the wait times can be long.

Dr. Shiple has excellent "bedside manner", addressing my fears and concerns and answering my questions in a respectful, non-condescending and thorough manner. Dr. Shiple performed cataract surgery for me. I am on the younger side of cataract patients and have many years to live in my new, forever eyes so the selection of the right lens was very important to me. I did my research and then went in to my presurgery appointment loaded up with questions that Dr. Shiple took plenty of time to answer. Together we decided on the best option for me. The surgery went perfectly, it was extremely well organized at both the office and the surgery center and I am thrilled with the results. I couldn't be more happy.
