This was my 2nd (left side) inguinal hernia visit. He did my 1st (right side) inguinal surgery. Seemed uninterested in my 2nd hernia, even though I reported a marble-sized lump had stuck out of my lower abdomen (it wasn't present at time of my exam, and I guess he didn't believe me). My chronic, acute pain was of no concern. He was teaching a student and was more focused on teaching her than my problem, or the obvious swelling. Sent me for sonogram, they reported 1-2 cm hernia. Went for 2nd opinion to non-UVM doctor, who took 10 seconds to say, "dude, you need this fixed PRONTO." Thankfully, I am now scheduled for surgery outside of the UVM system. To be fair, he took time to explain all the downsides of surgery, and I'm no fan of unnecessary surgery, but chronic, acute pain is generally a sign that should not be ignored, and 2nd law of thermodynamics tells us these things don't get better.

Dr. Forgione saw me for about 10 minutes, did a very quick exam, and was very dismissive of my condition. I was told that I didn't have a hernia and it was implied that I didn't really feel what I was feeling. My father was an MD and would always be late for later appts. Why? Because he took the time to get to know what every single patient was feeling. He would spend a lot of time to understand what was really going on. I went back to work and on my first day back, I was lifting at work because I was told that I did not have a hernia. I almost collapsed later that day. 3 days later - I had emergency hernia surgery at UVM Medical. I was very disappointed and frustrated with Dr. Forgione.

i could not recommend this practice at all----I was in and they scheduled a date for my hernia surgery--I went in May, 2020--scheduled me for end of October/2020/--november 2020--. Nurse then told me (I called sept. 16th) dr. is on leave unfortnately and wont be able to do your surgery now until 2021---, I asked her when did she expect to tell me this and call (I had called to find out), and she said " many people in your shoes we can't call back and let you know we would have enventually got to you"--I said, "really", and told her to have a nice day--NO COMMUNICATION AT ALL--go to a dr. that cares or has some form of communication from their front office!!

I could not give a good review--the doctor diagnosed my hernia---they gave me a date to have it---never called to say the doctor was out for a leave and if I didn't call I still would not know the doctor was out--then they said it won't be until 2021. Bad communication and terrible office staff and when I asked when they were going to call me and let me know--they said---"you are not the only one there are alot of people backed up"----not a very good answer--won't have him do my surgery for sure if this is this way people are treated!!

Sweetheart of a guy - kind, caring, very clear communicator, treats patients and their families as equals, and did a great job repairing an inguinal hernia for me. I also noticed and appreciated the respect he showed the other medical professionals involved, such as nurses and aides, etc.

Dr Forgione and his team provided excellent care in managing my inguinal hernia surgery . DrForgione explained the procedure ,and responded clearly to my questions and concerns. I recommend him highly to persons in need of inguinal surgery.Robert B. Lawson

Dr.Forgione doesn't know what scar tissue looks like. He terrified me telling me during surgery it looked like I had cancer, turned out to be scar tissue from a previous surgery 20 years ago! He needs more experience, go to Boston if you want these types of surgery!

I was apprehensive about surgery and Dr. Forgione put my mind at ease and I felt I got excellent care pre and post surgery. Should I need a general surgeon again I will be requesting Dr. Forforgione, he really went above and beyond to meet my needs.

I was very pleased with Dr. Forgione. He was professional, courteous, and excellent at diagnosing my problem. I felt he went out of his way to help my family understand what I was dealing with. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

This doctor and his staff failed to read my records that in regards to tests that he specifically requested. Upon arrival in the operating after I was already asleep and had a breathing tube inserted he called off my surgery. Had he or his staff read my file and had doctor Forgione stopped in and seen me before going into the operating room this costly mistake would have been avoided.
