Rachel Sell Md's Online Review Report Card

I have been seeing Dr. O'Mara for a few years now and every time I see her she makes me very uncomfortable. She's not good at listening to what I say and helping me with my medical issues, and she's been openly judgmental about issues I've brought up. Two years ago she told me I had to lose weight, and when I came back last year and I had dropped a few pounds she told me how proud she was without inquiring about how I had lost the weight- which was mainly due to stress from the loss of my father. Recently, she brushed off a complaint I had and made me feel dumb for bringing it up, and it the spiraled into a much larger issue when she should have caught it during our first appointment. I will no longer be seeing Dr. O'Mara and hope she sees this so she has the chance to improve her services for future patients.

She is very sweet and I think has her heart in the right place BUT if you have a problem that is not mainstream-textbook you will not be happy with her. She could not cubbyhole my symptoms into a nice neat package so she told me it was all in my head. As it turned out my thyroid meds were too low and I was being treated by my TSH numbers alone. Once my thyroid meds were raised my appetite returned, my metabolism returned, my hair stopped falling out, and most other symptoms dissipated. My husband did not have any success with her either. She sent him on one wild goose chase after another and, as it turned out, his white blood cell count was elevated due to a tooth infection. Once the tooth was removed (8 months later and after an un-needed torn meniscus surgery) his symptoms went away. His new rheumatologist and new periodontist all agreed that this was the cause of his problems. Need creative problem solving - seek help elsewhere.

It took me over 50 years to find a Physician like Dr. O'Mara. She is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, caring and professional. She was able to identify my medical issue, run test, get the results and began treatment within 48 hours. I am so impressed with how Dr. O'Mara treats her patients with such care and compassion. I am blessed to have a physician of such caliber. I am writing this review, because we all need to spread a positive message when it warranted. She is highly recommended!

If you are looking for a physician, Dr O'Mara is the doctor to see at Streeterville Internal Medicine. Dr O'Mara's patience, sensitivity, and genuine concern is what I truly appreciated the most. Dr O'Mara has given me every reason to feel confidence in her knowledge and skills as a physician. I am surely happy that I found such a great physician

I had my yearly visit with my previous internist. She wasn't concerned that my BP was elevated even though I was already on BP meds. My husband insisted that I find a new doctor. He recommended Dr. O'Mara, whom he met through work. What a great fit! She didn't put down my previous doctor, but focused on getting my BP situation under control. Dr. O'Mara ordered some routine blood and urine tests. Thank goodness she did because we found out that my kidneys were affected from my BP being high. I am grateful that I found a doctor is truly seems interested and concerned about my health. She has Patient Portal which allows the patient to communicate via email with Dr. O'Mara. I am also able to view my lab results via the Portal and can call or email any questions. I feel my health is in good hands.

I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. O’Mara and I can say without hesitation that she has been an asset to this clinic. Her wealth of knowledge is incredible and up to date! That is what I would want and would look for when looking for a physician. I would want the most competent MD to care for me and that is what Dr. Rachel O’Mara offers.

The Doctor named above is not culturally competent, has not interactions skills and in my opinion there is a lack of knowledge when treating me as a patients. My experience has been very stressful since I came to see Dr. Rachel O'Mara. On the other hand, Dr.O'Mara has not been helpful to me because when I ask her a question she underestimate me.
