Andelcare's Online Review Report Card

Over the past 4 years, my elderly parent has utilized services from Andelcare on numerous occasions for various reasons ranging from helping after major surgery to having someone help with everday needs when we were out of town. Over the years, Andelcare has always been accommodating of our requests and needs, and the service providers are caring and truly helpful. I have personally seen and witnessed caretakers from other companies working with some of my parents neighbors, and I have to say we would only employ Andelcare caretakers!

One star reluctantly. I was told when I hired the aide that they could administer meds if provided a single dose. When the aide arrived and I instructed her on the time and doses, she said she could not administer them, which is one of the main reasons she was hired. The aide was also not able to move my husband on her own, which was the other main reason she was hired. Additionally, when I came to relieve her at the end of her eight hour shift, I found my husband in a urine soaked diaper. The frosting on the cake was when I received a bill for the "services" I received, which was covered by Hospice. It took me talking to three people in order to get to a person who knew what an invoice actually was and to resolve the problem. I would think twice about hiring an aide from this company as the care was seriously lacking and the basic business proclivity left a lot to be desired.

Andelcare is an AMAZING service for seniors and their families. My 89-year-old mother lives at a facility in Seattle with van transportation, but she wasn't comfortable using it or a taxi. But she loves to go out and do errands, and we kids weren't always available to transport her. We interviewed Andelcare as a potential caregiving service, and we were very impressed with the interview. Andelcare patiently worked with our mother and family to find a perfect match caregiver to drive her once a week. When the caretaker arrives, he visits with our mom for a few minutes, and helps determine where she would like to go. Then, they usually take a drive to the waterfront or through the arboretum, stop at a bookstore or drug store and have lunch. She looks forward to his visits, and often talks about his excellent driving/caretaking skills. We call Robert our "angel" because he is so patient and we know our mother is happy to be able to go out. We feel comfortable knowing she is safe, and we are not constantly struggling to find a way to get her out and about regularly when we are busy with our own families and work. Also, we deeply appreciate Andelcare's professionalism. They worked very hard to find the right caretaker match for her. And when she lost her credit card one day, we called Andelcare several days after a caretaker visit to see if they could tell us where she had been with her caretaker. They had detailed records and knew immediately every stop they had made, and we were able to track down the lost card. We are so grateful to have Andelcare's services for our mother!

My elderly (101!) year old mother began requiring at-home care last year. Eileen at Andelcare was extremely helpful and patient in setting up the care for a reluctant client. The care-givers were excellent. Most recently, when my mother had a small stroke the care-giver stayed with her at the emergency room for 4 additional hours while we drove to the hospital from our home in Oregon. I can't say enough about how good these people are. On a practical level, they are also one of the few agencies that allows 1 hour billing, which was all we needed at the beginning. Most of the others have a 2 or 3 hour minimum.
