List of Jason C. Comer Md's Reviews
Dr Comer is very professional and concerned with the patient. Respond fast to patient’s question.
My partner was under this doctor's care. This doctor didn't help in a time of need or respond to calls. His follow-up was non-existent after she had a major health event. She suffered from polycythemia vera and was taking hydroxyurea. After needing an emergency splenectomy and additional surgery for bleeding varices it seemed obvious she had developed an intolerance for hydroxyurea, which is common (22%). After the surgery her blood counts were still abnormal. Though she had communicated her concern about her rising blood counts, getting a consult or call back from the Dr was virtually impossible. She was not given the option to start a second line treatment for her condition, which likely should have been the treatment plan. She had other options available, was high risk PV, yet she was left on her standard dose of hydroxyurea when alternatives were available. She lost her life suddenly from complications related to PV just 4 weeks after surgery. She was young and had a life ahead of her. While we don't know what would have happened with more attentive care or a second line drug, I do know she was not given a basic level of attention or review of her symptoms as they persisted and worsened. Getting a call back, reviewing symptoms, showing any level of care may have made a difference, and seems like what should be the base-line standard of care. She was experiencing significant daily weight loss among other issues, and weight loss is an independent clinical variable that predicts high risk PV. Dr, please pick up the phone! I lost my life-partner and the world lost an incredible person, perhaps needlessly.
Doesn't answer calls from patients in need. My mother spent two weeks trying to get in touch with this guy (her Dr for polycythemia vera) before dying without ever getting the chance to ask urgent questions about her medication that could have made a life or death difference. Find a different doctor if you want to get care when it matters most.
Lack of follow-up and often non responsive in a time of great need. Did not offer alternative treatments options that may have been a better solution. Hard to get a call back. Very passive in his care.

Dr. Comer is extremely professional and curtious. He is attentive and extremely well versed in current studies. You are not just a number to Dr. Comer, and his staff treat you.like family.
Doctor is very organized with my health plan, is detailed, and is engages well in discussing health needs and conditions.
My wife experienced multiple myloma and non-hodgkins lymphoma, and for some reason picked this doctor. For reasons I don't understand, she believed he was competent. The first run at chemotherapy quickly put her back in the ER and some days in the hospital, to deal with the negative outcomes of the chemotherapy. I understood that she wanted the next treatment to continue as scheduled, but on a decreased dosage. I may be mistaken. My children tell me that was not the case. The next chemotherapy session was, I believe, not at a reduced dosage. The result was a more voracious reaction, and her death. While I might be wrong, I believe he failed her. Please do not trust this man. If you do choose him, I urge you get his treatment plan IN WRITTING, in a form you can understand, and get confirmation from the administering persons that what you get is what he specified in his writing to you. He may have done the right thing, and got a bad outcome. However, his response was uncaring, cold.
Dr Comer takes plenty of time to listen, explain options and provide current research and data to help one make decisions. The way he works with our primary care doc and ortho surgeon makes proceeding with joint replacements possible when PE's delayed them. His willingness to include our junior pre-med student in the original consult and how he used the teachable moment was impressive. It is easy to understand why our primary doc wanted us to have Dr. Comer as a member of our care team.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
