Dr Rizen is clearly knowledgeable when it comes to Ophthalmology. He has an engaging personality and answers all questions with complete assuredness. I was quite concerned about some perceived vision problems and he completely allayed in my fears and put me at ease.

I had a torn retina five years ago and when my vision became blurry in the same eye. I was a little panicked it was a Saturday and he was on call and came in without any hesitation, diagnosed it as I set an qonset cataract and I had surgery within three days. he was knowledgeable, personable and professional and I feel as though I really lucked out having Dr. Rizen do my procedure. it’s the day after and I feel good and my sight has returned. I couldn’t be more pleased.

I had pretty high correction (-6 or so) in both eyes with Astigmatism. Used contact lens for many years until my eyes weren't liking it anymore. Met Dr. Rizen. His professionalism and due diligence in making sure that I was a good candidate for LASIK is SECOND TO NONE. He wouldn't settle on any pre-requisites (love that). I'm now seeing 20/15 and this has been a life changing experience. Surgery was smooth, easy and quick. Highly recommend Dr. Rizen. He is the best in the business!

Had cataract surgery in both eyes and he never explained anything about midrange vision being lost. I told him I only wanted to wear glasses for close up reading, but now I will have to wear bifocals all day to see store shelves, countertops, to cook, look across the room, etc. This is not close up! I wore glasses for long distance only before and now I am trading that for glasses all day long!! Not happy! He does not spend time explaining any of this with you.

Dr. Rizen is the best eye doc I have encountered. Brimming with energy and intelligence, he has nailed a couple of very tricky vision problems for my wife and me... a listener, tops diagnostician and a good guy! Yea!!!

Recently I started developing cataracts in both eyes and I'm very nearsighted and only in the last few years has laser eye surgery become an option. But I decided to get both eyes fixed with one process, that of removing the aging lens and replacing it with an artificial lens. While looking through all the eye surgeons / ophthalmologists on the East Side and getting a bit confused with all the listings a family friend suggested Dr. Michael Rizen in Bellevue across from Overlake Hospital. This friend had needed some different (I'm told, pretty tricky) eye surgery and had been thrilled with the results. So I looked through Dr. Rizen's background and experience and made an appointment. And am I ever glad I did. His staff was the best. Very pleasant and professional. Always on time and didn't take a long time to get things done and to get me prepared. Michael listened carefully, answered most of my questions before I asked them and made sure that all of my questions were answered at each stage before moving forward. I had each eye done at different times and both surgerys were far easier and painless than I ever expected. And both times I stepped off the operating table with good vision (I cheated and peeked out of the side of the protective shield to see how well I could see). I would guess that I was seeing 20/40 getting off the table. The next day I was at 20/20 in each eye and at the one week followup visit I was seeing 20/15 in each eye. I'm now four months after the first surgery and six weeks after the second and I'm at least 20/15 in both with no physical sensation of anything different in either eye. If you're considering eye surgery (ophthalmology) and looking for an eye surgeon (ophthalmologist) look no further and just give Dr. Michael Rizen a call and set up a visit.
