Venkatachala Mohan's Online Review Report Card

My last visit was a strange one to say the least. I’ve debated a long time on whether to share my experience. I’ve seen Dr. Mohammed for quite a while. The visits tend to start off with him asking questions about my personal life. But this time he took it too far. I was getting married and he asked me if my fiancé was white or black. When I told him he’s the opposite of me he made me feel terrible. Asking me why did I date outside my race, isn’t it better to date within your race, your parents must be upset etc ,. He went on and on about how I should date within my race. I was so uncomfortable and upset I just shut down. The most inappropriate conversation I’ve ever had at a doctors visit.

A few years ago when I first went to Dr. Mohan it was for a colonoscopy. As I lay on the table, prepped, hooked to an IV, he didn't show up. His staff apologized saying he should have come back from lunch by now and they didn't know what would hold him up. He finally appeared about 30 to 40 min. late. Dr. Mohan doesn't offer options for treatments - he only says what he's going to do. He prescribed Ciproflaxin for me, not telling me it has the FDA's highest black box warning and I ended up in the ER. My chart at his office specifically says I have hypoglycemia and Ciproflaxin is never supposed to be given to hypoglycemics. Another physician told me that could be grounds for malpractice. Further, he repeatedly told me to take a laxative without telling me there can be underlying causes for my problem (poor motility) and that poor motility can be easily treated to avoid laxatives. I had to research it myself and suggest it to him. No one answers the main office phone at any time of day. You're left to leave a message. At least once they never did return the call. Further, I had a test done but the results were never given to me on the portal until I reminded them. Today, weeks after finally receiving the test result I received a portal message saying I've never had that test and that I really should schedule it.
