Jan P Dank's Online Review Report Card

Today was my first visit with Dr. Dank. The medical assistant was quite through and documented my entire history. I am a woman, a life long feminist, and sensitive to any treatment that could be considered less than equal to what would be offered to a man. Unlike these other negative reviews, I found him to be extremely knowledgeable and professional. He is very efficient, which I suppose could be taken as less caring by some. I came in to treat a basal cell cancer, and learned more from him about the proper treatment for this type of cancer than I learned from 3 other doctors who have treated me for these in the past. He referred me to another dermatologist for a different treatment which he thought would be more effective, which I greatly appreciated. I also inquired about a procedure that was recommended to me by another dermatologist, and he explained that in his experience the procedure isn't effective because it is too painful, and since it requires 3 treatments to get results, no one comes back for the other 2. Dr. Dank treated the precancerous spots he found, and flagged for me in advance which spots would be treated as cosmetic and not reimbursable. I plan to see him every 6 months for a skin check as I grew up in Florida with no sunscreen and have lots of skin damage from the sun, and 2 siblings on the East Coast who have had multiple melanomas and squamous cell carcinomas removed, undoubtedly saving their lives. Therefore, it is important for me to feel as if I have adequate care for my skin. I believe Dr. Dank will take good care of me and intend to see him as long as he is practicing here. Bellingham is fortunate to have someone with his experience. I feel lucky he was willing to take a new patient.

I've never met a more arrogant man. He was rude, snarky, and totally lacking in professionalism. We walked out of the appointment feeling humiliated and just plain pissed. And guess what, he misdiagnosed my spouse's skin condition. If he had taken the time to review the list of prescriptions, Dr. Dank might have found the problem. Instead, we went home with a prescriptive arsenal of expensive lotions and salves - none of which worked. A walk-in clinician made the connection. Why? Because this person took an extra few minutes to read the health history.

I would not EVER recommend this petty, insecure man that calls himself a doctor. I expect a doctor to have the "God" complex but this man is sooo insecure with himself that he BLAMES the patient, several I have now spoken with, that have all had the same interaction. He must dislike women, makes sure to tell his patients, which I was one, that it is OUR FAULT, that I have several skin cancer spots on my body and instead of being a decent human and understanding that I TOLD him I had spent the 80's and 90's in the sun and tanning booth. Hey asshole, I could have lied to you and said I have no idea how I got all these spots, but no I choose to be honest and did not expect my doctor to JUDGE ME for being honest and be so unsure of his own capabilities that you have to say out loud and very aggressively that it's all MY fault...well no duh dumb-ass, just wanted you to help with the cancer, that is what I thought the "hippocratic Oath" says....you WANT to help all people....well you don't deserve to own your business let alone be a MD. I hope someone gets your license taken away. Best regards,Found a better doctor

My experience has been that he is condescending, rushed, and simply plain rude. Never have I been treated so poorly by a doctor. He doesn't actually want to discuss anything and I left feeling like I did something wrong, or was just a diseased patient he didn't want to deal with (I've had eczema my whole life). He is an inconsiderate jerk. I've been to many other dermatologists throughout my life and was never treated this way. He pushes patients through rudely without a care or thought about how he treats his patients. Just go read other reviews. I won't go to him and have him belittle me again.

He is like a web md robot. Comes in and reads a few paragraphs or prewritten stuff to you regardless of the uniqueness of your condition. Throws medication at you. And tell you to try it and schedule another appointment. No listening or dialogue what’s so over. Also very aggressive with his opinion, makes you afraid to question his methods or medication.

Dr. Dank is the best. Thorough, very knowledgable, experienced and explains everything very carefully. He discovered a cancer, and has taken care of me for many years for all my dermatology issues. Personable, professional. The entire team is superb, responsive, caring and professional.

I love Dr. Dank. He is very professional, conscientious and thorough. I don't understand some of these reviews. That sure was not my experience, not even close to that. The staff is amazing as well.
