Dr. Gongaware has always been delightful, professional, knowledgeable and goes into detail when explaining her exam findings. She has always answered my questions with genuine interest and concern. After my double cataract surgeries a few years ago, I saw more than one optometrist at Whatcom Eye Surgeons....Dr. Gongaware was one of them. I liked her so much that I now only make appointments with her.

Dr. Gongaware was very thorough and communicated with me well. She was a very nice doctor.

Would give zero stars if I could. Never have I been so uncomfortable with someone, she was rude and belittled me. I told her several times during the exam that I still couldn't see the letters very clearly, she told me that "was good enough" and stopped the exam. I went ahead with the prescription she gave me (thinking she knows best) but it was worse than my previous one, gave it a few days thinking maybe my eyes needed to adjust. Went back and explained the situation. Dr Gongaware came out with bad attitude, when I reminded her that I told her during the exam that I didn't think it was right she snapped at me and said it was better than what I had before, when I tried to question it again she argued with me, huffed audibly and said "fine let's redo the whole exam!" I'm 40 yrs old and was humiliated in front of others, felt like a child getting told off by a frustrated parent, I flushed and said I'll go elsewhere. I'm a health professional too, would never treat my patients like that!
