Wen Huan Steve Ho Md's Online Review Report Card

I have had several procedures over the years with Dr. Ho. He is widely respected by his staff and his other peers. He is very thorough and easy to understand. I feel very confident that he such a great Dr. I would recommend him without hesitation. He is always very professional.

Two procedures done with him. Getting a 3rd one soon. No problems whatsoever.

Dr. Ho did two procedures on me during my hospitalization last year. He wasn't rude or rough or anything like that, but he was rather cold and didn't seem to welcome my questions. Like the other review, he and his staff talked over me about the remaining procedures they had to do before they could go home. I must admit, I did feel like I was part of an assembly line. I talked to the ward nurse about it and she explained that Dr Ho is a proceduralist, not a practicing gastroenterologist per se. So I guess the assembly line feeling made sense. I don't recall if he came to see me, so I assume that he didn't since I DO remember asking the Family Care Network hospitalist (awesome) what was going on and why was I getting these procedures? I've now set myself up with my own gastroenterologist and next time I will not accept Dr. Ho as the proceduralist. Such a shame when every one else involved in my care was so wonderful.

Dr. Ho made poor eye contact and appeared annoyed when I asked him questions, for instance on the procedure table with tubes in place, he asked me to sign a consent to take any action necessary during the surgery and was annoyed when I asked a question. Then, he and his staff joked about having to work quickly on three upcoming patients so vacations could start soon. This is standing over me conscious on the table! There was even more, but you get the flavor. I gave formal complaints. Hopefully future reviews by others will be better.

After a year and a half of gastric upset, thousands of dollars in tests, a phone convo with this man was a disaster. He had not looked at my chart, did not know what tests had been done....even though they had been ordered by his office, and did not seem to care that I was clearly distraught that my life is upended by gastric paresis. His manner was off-putting, dismissive of my concerns, and the options he gave me were couched as suggestions, and "you can take this or that medication if you want to". I will never go back to that office, and now have to start over with another doctor somewhere else. I have our conversation recorded if anyone wants to hear it.

I met him one time just before my colonoscopy-- I was on my back on a gurney with an IV in my arm when he appeared, rattled off some information and shoved a paper above me to sign. I couldn't see it but signed anyway. (MY mistake). Then, HAPPILY, I asked: "Dr. Ho, is this my last colonoscopy". His reply: "NO, you're only 64". The fact of the matter is that I was just short of 82 and had just signed someone else's medical record. That is an error that I do not take lightly and it still gives me nightmares and concerns about the safety of patients under his care. Dr. Ho didn't say a word but shuffled the papers in his hand, shoved another one at me to sign (which I should NOT have done I now realize), turned and walked out without saying a single word. It frightens me to think what MIGHT have happened to me if I hadn't asked that question. Dr. Ho, for sure, did NOTHING to determine my identity. Now I wonder if he always ignores the procedures to check on the identity of his patients before operating. Makes me wonder too if he also fails to wash his hands and follow other hospital procedures.

I have been suffering from abdominal pains for some time. Talked with him very briefly told him all my symptoms including my brittle skin.Very little eye contact was made. I barely felt heard as he still wants to do an endoscopy on me. I then ordered him to have a look at my liver and take some ultra sounds. Took me having to call him one month later for the results!!!! I didn't even get a personal phone call from him but his secretary. She then tells me he was only looking for gallstones not my liver. I will not let him do an Endoscopy on me as I feel it is an unnecessary procedure. I don't even have reflux symptoms!

Spent no time with me after colonoscopy...just said you need polyp removed and it needs to be done in the hospital
