List of Sea Mar Des Moines Dental Clinic's Reviews
i give this place 1 star because it doesn't have modern tech like Laser Dentistry, just can't relax in the chair & lectures on toothbrushing, when i extremely struggle with it.
Front desk is very helpful however trying to get a phone answered or recieve care is near impossible. Even if you manage to get an appointment they will schedule 3 more for basic care. Have yet to have anything done. I found a different dentist. I can't get them to answer the phone to cancel my upcoming appointment.
It’s the worst place I ever seen. If you don’t have appointment and visit this hospital with severe dental pain. They don’t care and will make you wait for a long time. I waited for more than 4 hours. Even after waiting for more than 4 hours, they don’t assure the treatment. Will do the evaluation only. And the staff/receptionist are way too rude and aggressive. If you will ask more questions they will started yelling on you all two on a single person. I don’t recommend this place. Please don’t waste you time here.
(Translated by Google) I had two appointments in the morning for my children. It was the first dates of the morning. Arrive at exactly 8:00 a.m. Which is when they open and it was my appointment. There were two people who did not have a date. With one of them it took almost 15 minutes to register it. Which they told him that if the 8:00 or 8:30 patients did not arrive, they would pass it earlier. Otherwise it would have to wait. They made me check in around 8:20 a.m. And in a few minutes. They go first to the two people who DID NOT HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. , 8:45 a.m. I was still waiting. What is the sense of making an appointment that they will not respect. Nor do I understand why they went first to those who do not have an appointment. The most convenient I think is like the system that they had or have in the medical profession. They have a walk-in clipboard and one by appointment. Obviously those who have their appointment register first. It's sooooo frustrating to ask for permission at work to take my kids to appointments and have my appointment not respected. I had to withdraw since it was almost nine o'clock and they still hadn't passed on to my children. Patients' time is important, they must respect it. What I am sure of is that if I arrive without an appointment, they will not attend me immediately.
Excellent staff. Carlos G at the front counter was thorough in entering my tax documents and adjusted the info to reflect the correct numbers, rather than what I had incorrectly reported. This saved me a couple hundred dollars. My son likes it there because they will take the time to explain his dental insurance coverage limits , warn that a second cleaning in one year isn't covered and what the what cost would be out of pocket before he set the appointment. The tech assist is considerate and explains each step before continuing. Dr. Wu stays up to date on current events and research; I experienced sever jaw pain and though it was a bad tooth, but he knew that it was likely due to the mask mandate and my hypersensitivity to having a mask around my ears. I added a headband with buttons on the side to attach the mask, and within 3 days the pain was reduced, within 2 weeks the inflammation was gone. I have never heard of someone having unnecessary or unwanted care at this office.
The absolute worst. They didn't even look in my husbands mouth for an exam and charged us over $700 for the exam. It's absolutely outrageous. They refused to run it through insurance and we're still fighting them on it. They told us we were approved for financial assistance as well, so why is the amount so large? They couldnt answer me.
On 10/26/2020 went to Sea Mar in Des Moines for the first time. I would give this place zero stars if possible. Was see by Dr. Gilsun Yu, who said I have cavities. He wouldn’t look me in the eye, he was sketchy, and I got a feeling he was not being truthful with me. Plus I take excellent care of my teeth. He was very suspicious. And he didn’t even take the time to answer my questions, he left, and the dental assistant was trying to read my teeth X Rays to me. From my understanding, this should be the responsibility of the provider. I will never go back to another place like this who takes advantage of vulnerable patients. This same day I called my old dental office who I trust. And paid out of pocket. At this honest dental office Who trust, they told me I had NO CAVITIES! Something tells my this dishonest provider Gilsun Yu, would have drilled holes in my teeth, filled them, and charge my insurance through the state. How many ppl is he and maybe the other providers doing this too? Makes me sick to think about. I hope readers will find my experience as a helpful warning! I will never recommend this place!
Its a very nice place with nice people too!
This place is a joke
First visit with Dr. Flores at Sea Mar Dental and he provided outstanding service, more so than many other dentists I've visited. We were referred to this dental service due to my wife being laid off work and our funds taking a beating. Sea Mar has more reasonable rates for dental work needed. Dr. Flores was gracious, professional and personable. After X-rays we're reviewed he came in, examined me then offered a clear plan of action. He offered alternatives (other dental specialists) to chose from. I arranged an appointment to revisit him in a few weeks. Staff very helpful. Clean facilities. Good location.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
