List of The Center For Family And Lifespan Development, Llc's Reviews
I read all the reviews and can't believe the bad ones. They seem to have fixed everything because everything from my intake assistance to finding me the best therapist for my needs... it all went really smoothly. I think in times like these, mental health centers are all over booked and understaffed. I've witnessed an exodus of therapists and specialists move into only treating the wealthy or cash pay only @ $250.00 an hour. I'm disabled and am so grateful there are people that still want to help people, even if they aren't wealthy. They take Medicare and are the first place I've found in 3 years that does. I see them as front line workers and expecting anything immediately is a fantasy. It took a year at a different autism center to get my assessment and that's just how it goes. I looked for a specialist in neurodivergence for 3 years after my diagnosis. The Center recently scooped me up and had me seeing Dr. April right away. She has been amazing. I'm just so excited to have support at a time where I have been ready to give up, and I'm grateful for it.
When I first visited, Virginia Richardson, ARNP, she claimed that they would only send me and my primary care physician my records/test results after all payments had been made my myself and insurance. This violates HIPAA's Privacy Rule, where patients have the right to see and receive copies upon request - regardless of payment (note, they are allowed to charge administrative fees to send records, but this is different from what they were referring to). I brought this up with the practitioner and sited the Privacy Rule and she argued back with me that I had misunderstood it. We spoke with the front desk and the front desk sided with me. After my appointment in June, I verbally requested my test reports be sent to me within 30 days of that appointment. More than 30 days later, I had not received my reports. I sent a written request for records on July 18 and again on August 2. Per the Privacy Rule, providers must either give these records to a patient or given a reason why there is a delay. I reported their failure to comply to the Office for Civil Rights, where they indicated the clinic would receive technical training covering HIPAA. On August 28, more than 30 days later and after receiving no responses, I sent a demand for records, indicated they were past the 30 days of the initial request and cited the privacy rule. It wasn't until around mid September I received my mailed records - more than 3 months from my appointment! It's alarming that a health care provider is ignorant to HIPAA's rules. I've already informed my primary care provider of this, among other issues I had, and they've dropped this location as a referral. While I know it can be difficult to seek evaluation or care, I would avoid this place unless it's truly your only option.
Scheduling was a nightmare. Waited weeks for appointments to find out during the appt that it was the wrong type of appointment. On another occasion, I needed to reschedule or do telehealth (due to work emergency) for an appt to review my test results. Receptionist said I had to show up in person or wait 6-8 weeks for another appt to learn my results. I made it to the appt, but had forgotten my wallet and was turned away since I couldn't pay a $20 copay. I offered Venmo, paypal, etc, or that i could call in the instant i got home. Getting proper Healthcare is hard enough, but this was crazy town.
I have been Seen Dr. Robinson for a couple years. She is amazing, kind, professional, and a wonderful therapist. My issue is with the Center. Therapy is 100% paid for with no co-pays with my insurance. In the beginning they would pull out random amounts of money off my Visa saying it was co-pays. $14 one week $23 next week, some random amount the next week. After several calls, they did stop pulling Co-pays but they never refunded it back. A week and a half ago they sent me an email saying my visa was expired, and that my therapy will cease until I take care of it. I have left several messages. Or have been put on hold for 40 minutes and no one ever answers. I’m just done. The center is awful, but their therapist are wonderful!
I called and was told I needed to talk to the intake person before I could schedule an appointment. I never received a call from that individual after I was told I would be called the next day. After two weeks, I called again and was able to talk to the intake person. She said she would call me the next day. She never called. After another couple of weeks, I called back and the receptionist, who told me she could not schedule me an appointment did, five months from then (May to October). She informed me the forms I needed to fill out would be available 60 days before my first appointment on the patient portal. Thirty nine days before my appointment, I called to find out about the forms. I was informed the doctor was no longer with the clinic , and I would be called the next day after things were reviewed. I received a voicemail telling me to call the clinic to schedule since a new doctor was joining the clinic. Before I could call, I received another voicemail telling me it was a mistake. The December appointment they were going to give me was never available. I would have to wait until sometime next year. After wait now 9 months, sometime next year doesn’t cut it. I found another clinic who got me in within two weeks. I had to pay out of pocket, but will bill my insurance, and have my assessment completed this year! Don’t risk falling through the cracks, find some place other than this place, that actually cares and wants to help. Response to owner: Wow! Five months after writing my review you comment that you are going to improve your scheduling. What’s the hurry? And since then, I have not been contacted to schedule an appointment for an assessment which has now been 14 months of waiting, after I was told 5 months. This makes any assessment and the doctors suspicious of incompetency. I also find the huge turnover of doctors to be a sign of a poorly run business. So who would want to get an assessment or treatment from them? Not me! Nor should anybody else, imho. Negative five star rating would be more appropriate than the one star I originally gave them.
Excellent resouce
An appointment was scheduled ahead of time months ago with this office. The clinician that had been booked for this appointment apparently departed somewhere between that time and the set day of the appointment, and this information was only made available to me the day before the appointment. To be absolutely clear, the appointment was canceled by the office with effectively zero notice. How can a clinic be in the business of brain health if it can't even coordinate bookings with customers? A waste of time - I'd already submitted the appropriate forms months ago. The clinic seems to have a serious housekeeping issue, and dare I say a staffing issue? No matter now, I'll have to take this as actually being in my favor, for if they cannot competently maintain bookings, I can only imagine how dismal the quality of service provided must be.
anyone that is willing to tackle the mental health crisis in America is amazing and selfless to me.
Was the only choice through my insurance. Sadly they withheld medication because I forgot to make an appointment. Highly unprofessional.
These people dont know what they are doing. the cause more problems for a patient than its worth.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
