Benson Heights Rehabilitation Center's Online Review Report Card

I agree with the recent reviews; the air here is chokingly thick with artificial fragrance, my father seems like a number instead of a name to management. It is far from personalized care and unfortunately there does not seem to be enough funding for facility maintenance either. Some of the staff work very hard, but the main bathroom handle is almost falling off, for example.

I've been at Benson heights, and it's a serious disappointment being physically assaulted. Then on top of that the staff and management call the adult protection agency in tried to make me to be insane

Disappointing and Heartbreaking Experience at Benson Heights Rehab Writing this review comes easily because of how incredibly frustrating and upsetting my experience with Benson Heights Rehab has been. My ex-father-in-law spent his last months there, and from the start, things were never quite right. One of the main issues was the lack of attention when he fell out of bed. Often, he would have to wait for an extended period before anyone came to help him up. He would call me or his daughter for assistance, but when we tried to contact the facility for help, no one would answer or return our voicemails, unless it was about payments. On top of that, his personal belongings, including his food, clothes, and hygiene products, were repeatedly stolen. When he reported it, they dismissed him as lying, until I provided proof, showing that he had purchased new clothes. They replaced his items with low-quality, generic products or leftover clothes from the facility. His belongings would sometimes disappear, and no effort was made to return them. He expressed his fear of passing away there, and we worked tirelessly to move him and we actually got an apartment for him, but each time there were roadblocks and excuses for his oxygen tank, which he would need, like missing equipment or necessary parts. Just days before his passing, he was hopeful that he would finally be leaving, but unfortunately, he passed away on yesterday February 17 2025. The way they handled the situation was beyond insensitive. I received a voicemail informing me of his passing, and when I called back, they immediately started discussing funeral home arrangements, asking where to send his body without any expression of sympathy or concern for our loss. When my son and I went to pick up his belongings, we were greeted with more unprofessionalism. The staff was whispering, acting like we were a nuisance, and when they brought his belongings, none of the items were his. It was a painful and disrespectful experience. Not once did anyone offer condolences or show any empathy. I am incredibly disappointed with the staff and the lack of compassion at Benson Heights Rehab. The workers showed no care for the residents or their families, and I would never recommend this facility to anyone. It’s heartbreaking to see how little they valued my father-in-law’s life and belongings, and how they treated us after his passing. Please check on your family.

If you have a family member that needs Rehabilitation do not have them in this facility!!My mother's brother was sent to this facility from the hospital to receive further care before being able to return home. The place smells from the time you step in. Staff is extremely slow responding to patients needs nor do they seem interested. Please avoid having anyone you love and care for placed in the care of this facility!

Maura the social worker has been great during my stay here, she works hard and is always there when I'm upset and supports me when I need it. She's a winner

Building isn't the newest and shiniest, but the staff are some of the best. Covid was tough on the Industry and These individuals kept up the hard work and saved lives.

I have been at Benson Heights for 4 months. When I arrived, I was unable to walk. With patience and care, I am now able to walk and function almost independently. I love the staff and they are always kind and generous with my requests. If you find yourself in this position, I would seriously suggest checking it out.

I come to visit my relative - the facility is cleaner than most I've been in- very helpful nursing staff.
