John D. Dockins's Online Review Report Card

My significant other went in for bariatric surgery with Dockins. I missed his call telling me the surgery outcome. He left a voice message that just said “The surgery was successful.” Literally that was the whole message—didn’t identify himself, give me a number to call if i have questions, or tell me when to expect my SO. He seemed very aloof in the pre-op check and didn’t take time to answer any of my questions. He also speaks WAY too quickly. He seemed frustrated when I asked him to repeat what he said.

Dr Dockins treats me and my daughter. From my very first appointment with Dr Dockins, I knew he was a great doctor. As a medical professional myself I truly appreciate the little things, he LISTENS and he HEARS what you say! You can feel that he cares about you. My daughter has a hormonal issue and has struggled with her weight for years, she isn’t what an average person would call over weight, but as a college athlete she wants to look in shape, she has seen at least 9 providers to seek help with weight loss….every single provider, western medicine, holistic medicine and naturopathic medicine alike all have had the same response for her….”but you look great”….I think she looks great too, but for the efforts she puts in, the calorie counting, massive exercise and nutrition planning she puts in, she simply wants to look the part of a college athlete (she loves her curves she doesn’t want to be unhealthy)….even though my daughter isn’t a traditional type of patient that Dr Dockins sees, he agreed to meet her. I will be forever grateful….not only did he see her and spend time with her, he truly heard her and seemed to naturally know how to help her in the way she needed….he literally said he understood why she was upset and helped her set goals to reach her desires…he was so optimistic and uplifting to her I can’t even put it in words! Instead of leaving the appointment bawling (as was the case for all others) she was beaming from ear to ear and finally felt like she was going to get where she wanted to be. What a difference it makes when a provider hears what you want for yourself and works with you instead of telling you what they think is the right thing. Thank you Dr Dockins!!

I only met with him once but by the end of the visit I requested a different doctor for the follow up (something I have never done before). He had no interest in getting answers to the few questions he asked. He was blatantly dismissive, did not understand key aspects that related to my case, and disregarded a significant concern for me without any attempt to understand the issue. Will not be going back to him and would not recommend.

Filled in for our primary surgeon. Did not listen to our concerns, was very inconsiderate. We explained our issues with other surgical procedures and were having the same issues. He didn't care and we had to request a different doctor and thankfully a male nurse, Patrick, who understood us and did what was needed for my husband to be more comfortable. His pain was beyond a scale of 10!

Highly qualified and thorough. I am very impressed with his experience and expertise.
