Skagit Regional Health - Vaccine Clinic's Online Review Report Card

Although vaccinated and boosted, I caught Covid. It started out very intense and I got scared since i am in my 70's, live alone and rural. I called 3 times to see if I could get a prescription for Paxlovid. I know that the sooner you take it, the better it works. I was told by the assistant of the Nurse Practitioner no, because I have not had blood work done in a few years. I was directed to go to the urgent care where I would have needed to wait for 3-4 hours to see someone. I was too sick to leave the house. I had to contact an online doctor to send in a prescription. I started on the meds yesterday and am doing better today. I won't go back there ever!!

So I had an appointment with Dr.Chang back in April, his department is Plastic Surgery. I went in there for a breast reduction because I'm in so much pain that my back hurts to drive because I'm weighed down by them. He told me to do physical therapy and to come back to him in September. I did PT, and I had my appointment 2 weeks ago with him. He told me that Tricare wants to see that I'm in pain for a longer time. Even though he never contacted them. I told him my husband is leaving for 1.5 years for overseas in 6 months. He was like eh, make another appointment with him next February. Then he told me to lose weight. I'm 150 pounds, and I had a baby 8 months ago. He kept telling me a few times to lose weight. I felt disrespected, he was body shaming me. Like I said before, my back hurts so bad, it hurts to drive and my husband leaves in 6 months so it's just going to me. No one is going to be there to help, my back is going to keep getting worse and worse. He was a rude doctor, and I will find elsewhere to get my surgery done. I just wanted to let you all know, because I don't know how many other people he is body shaming and wasting their time and keep making excuses not to do surgery.

Skagit Regional Health.... What a disgrace to medical field. I have had a lot of medical issues in the past 8 years, including kidney failure, dialysis, and a kidney transplant (none done at Skagit Regional). NEVER have I been treated so poorly. You can't believe anything they say, especially when it comes to costs and billing. According to the "Patients' Bill of Rights" everyone is to be provided the costs of a visit or procedure in advance. But trying to get these costs from Skagit was like getting water to run uphill. NEVER a return call to discuss even after them promising to do so. They just bounce you from one person to the next until they promise to call you back. And then when you do, the actual costs will be DOUBLE what you were quoted. DO NOT TRUST THESE GREEDY IDIOTS!!!

Where do I begin? SRH is the most unprofessional and inept clinic/hospital I have ever dealt with. The absolute worst, however, is the billing dept. For some reason, they charge TWO copays instead of one. This does not even seem to be legal, yet they do. We weren't aware of this, as literally nowhere else charges two copays. As always, I paid my $21 copay...then was SENT TO COLLECTIONS for the second copay (same visit), when we were NEVER told about this mysterious "second copay" for "facility charges." I had a heated argument with the billing person about this and she finally relented to call off the collection dogs, but they were willing to ruin our credit over a bogus $21 charge they never told us about (and which I still believe is a scam; a double copay??) This is only one example of the ineptitude and complete unprofessionalism of Skagit Regional Health. A few others:*Upon having an MRI, I walked in and the first thing the tech said to me was, "wow, you're a tall one!" WHAT???? I'm 5'8". He said it like I'm a freak.*The employees behind the desk (check in areas) talk **** about patients, well within earshot of other patients in the waiting area.*The male x-ray tech that did my MRI could not have been more irritable/grumpy. He was downright rude, even though I am ridiculously compliant ad easy to deal with as a patient. We have since transferred our care out of SRH and will never use them again.

I can't believe this is legal! My husband is pushing me to talk to a lawyer about this, but I don't normally rite reviews let alone stir up legal trouble. I was taken to a room where I shared my information and where they checked my blood pressure and when the Medical Assistant started up a conversation I shared that I used to be a Medical Assistant when I was much younger. My jaw dropped when she told me she HOPES to be one some day! She is TRAINING to be a Medical Assistant sort-of. She said she was an MAR. I don't remember what the R stands for. She then explained that all of her training was on the job and that she had only being doing this for a couple of weeks! When I was in training you had to earn the right to touch a patient let alone work on them alone without supervision. I had just shared the details of a very private medical issue with someone right off the streets! I asked the doctor about it and he frowned and shrugged saying that he wasn't happy about it either. What is going on there? We don't have many choices here in Skagit. If you have to go there or anywhere make sure they don't have unsupervised students caring for you!

I just activated my myCHART account and there is no message from the doctor like they said there would be.

I give one star because I can't give zero stars. We are very much NOT happy with these people. We have seen them put greed over care every time!We have been seeing Dr Welk over there at SRH for the past few years and it has been a ROCKY bad time with them. The first time we did tests (blood work and x-rays) with them they charged us about $9000 (yes nine-thousand dollars) for blood work and x-rays that we have had done elsewhere for around $1200. Their "Customer Care" folks didn't care that it was a gross overcharge. It costs what it costs they said. We had to pay it. So fine, we just told ourselves we will not use their lab. And that worked for a little while. This year Dr Welk has been on a kick to push more testing and push for testing there (SRH), not where we want to go. And they do this in an insidious fashion, their "new" system of electronic test results at SRH will ONLY work with their lab. Any outside lab with have "problems" interfacing. As a software engineer working in healthcare and doing backend integrations myself, I can say BS to that. There would only be such a "problem" if they want it there. It's a win for SRH, after all, it would force people to use their lab (and get grossly overcharged) and that is, I believe, their plan. Yes, force everyone to use only their lab and be overcharged for the service, what a plan. For that greed, F SRH, F Dr Welk, and F everyone there that helps them play that evil greedy game!!! We are looking to replace Dr Welk and SRH because we don't think a doctor should force new testing in this manner (funnel ppl to be overcharged). Oh, and I should say that if we don't get the testing done, he withholds the medication needed to keep us in a stable place. F all these greedy ppl!Don't go here if you aren't rich!

I went to the urgent care on a wed the 6th with what i thought was the flu and when i got to talk with the Doctor she stated that the test came back negative for the flu she stated that all my symptoms point to me having the flu and that i also had pneumonia and said i was dehydrated but that it was closing time and that if i wanted to get an IV for the dehydration i would have to go to the emergency room as they would not stay open to take care of this.Then they gave me a prescription for antibiotics and nausea and sent me home.On the 8th i was so sick i had to go to the emergency room at 6 am and i was then told the test came back negative for the flu and that i had pneumonia in both lungs and no flu and was to be admitted this was at 8;30 am and that they were trying to get me a bed even called there sister hospital in arlington.I was finally moved to a room later in the day and i was told that i indeed had the flu and i was asked at least three times to let them take a sample to be tested and i would tell them it was already done.I am going to talk with a lawyer as i think that i would not be stuck with a 23k bill for a hospital stay had the urgent care done its job.

19I have received treatment for stage IV cancer for over 5 years at Skagit Regional Cancer Care Center. The doctors, nurses, and technicians caring for the patients are wonderful and if my review was based solely on them I would give five stars plus. However, care is only half the story. The administration of Skagit Regional seems more concerned with making money than caring for patients. Their procedures for dealing with patient billing is inconsistent at best and likely nonexistent. A patient can be determined low income and qualify for assistance on one billing but will not qualify on the next. They refuse to work with patients on payment plans or income determination and are quick to send billing to collections. Even collections is inconsistent as they will send these to several different companies or sometimes keep collections efforts in house. If it were not for the excellent relationship and care I have received from my oncologist at Skagit I would move all treatment and procedures to a different facility. As it is I have moved all scans and non cancer related treatment to a different hospital. If you can avoid Skagit Regional I suggest you do so.

The Doctors at skagit regoional health are great,no problems there.But they keep throwing in these extra fees when I go to my primary care on top of my copay. and cannot give me a reasonable answer as to why.200.00 facility copay 8 months after I had A mole removed,And also 3 weeks after they had sent me a check for 239.00 lab test that they billed me for and I paid, and that kaiser also paid,costs more to go to the clinics than it does to go to the er or hospital. will not be going back.
