Adam R Burkey's Online Review Report Card

I would like to give this so called doctor a minus 1000 rating due to his arrogant demeanor. I went there Not to ask for PILLS. The receptionist tried to make me do a UA sample. I refused because that was not the plan for my visit. He tried to talk me into surgeries, one that I had already tried and it failed, then he asked me which one I tried. He told me it was not a good neuro stimulator, and then he asked me what type of surgeon did that surgery, and when I told him it was a neuro surgeon, he could not understand why a neuro surgeon would do that. I told him a neuro surgeon works with nerves, like really!!! He kept insisting that I try it again but a different type. I told him, been there done that, and I had it removed from my body, and I am NOT doing that again. He doesn’t like to listen to his prospective new patient, who already has the knowledge of knowing their own body and what works and what does not. I told him exactly why I was seeing him. His demeanor turned into stretching his body and acting very unprofessional. He could not find a pen, I told him that I had one, but he went out of the exam room in search for one, just prolonging my appointment. He wrote down the name of the procedure of what I wanted, and then almost shoved the piece of scrap paper in my face, telling me to look it up. I went there knowing about the procedure, why would I need to look it up? He came across as a God like doctor who does Not like being told what to do. For me if a doctor refuses to talk to a doctor that I have been dealing with for many years, then that was another clue as to why my gut told me to run and never look back. Personally I have no idea how this person still has his medical license. I am Extremely disappointed in his behavior, and lack of judgment.

He even doesn’t listen to you, prescribes medicine that you even dont want to. Never ever would I go back him.

Worst appt I have ever experienced for myself or others (career as clinical social worker). No eye contact, introductions and zero compassion or kindness. Dr. Burkey refused to read my medical records and told me I had a herniated disk causing my pain (w/ no evaluation or record review). I ended the appointment early due to his unprofessionalism and demeaning manner. He also wrote complete inaccuracies in my chart that thankfully did not impact my care with other ongoing providers.

He has very por bedside manners to put it nicely. He has failed to properly numb before a procedure multiple times and just gets angry instead of apologizing. He has argued that I don't know where my own pain comes from and refused to do a procedure referred to him by another provider in the office. I'm considering reporting him.

Awful and bizarre. Came into the appointment and said nothing for about 10 min. Then proceeded to tell me I don't have something that I was diagnosed with by a board certified Rheumatologist via labs and CT. This guy proceeds to say it's not that diagnosis and won't accept my labs? And he didn't examine or look at me. It continued to get worse until I left. Check your medical note if yoy had a bad appointment with him as well....just unethical and awful.

If there were a negative star rating, I would use the lowest available. But since one is the lowest I can go, that is what this "doctor" gets, although he does not even deserve that much. I have been going to Anesis at their Olympia, WA location for 20 months. During my time there, Burkey had administered different injections, attempting to relieve my pain. None of the injections helped, but only made pain worse. The only thing they have done is prescribe oxycodone for this entire time period. Most times I didn't even fill the prescription, as I didn't need the amount they were prescribing and would only take a pill if I was having extreme pain. Yet, yesterday, with NO complaints about any of my UAs, which were provided at every visit, Burkey accused me of being there only for the pills and lying about the treatment he had provided. He continued yelling at me as I was exiting the clinic, carrying over in front of other patients. I couldn't believe it. EXTREMELY unprofessional

I have been going to Anesis Spine and Pain Care at their Olympia, WA location for 20 months. During my time there, Burkey had administered different injections, attempting to relieve my pain. None of the injections helped. In the meantime, he and his assistants would provide me with pain medication prescriptions. The prescription allowed for 3 pills a day, but I never needed this much medication, so I was not taking them often, and at times, I would not even fill the prescription. I would receive a UA to check my prescription levels and, of course, for any other drugs in my system, of which there was never a problem or complaint; I never had anything other than what was prescribed, and very low doses in my system. At my 2nd to last visit, an assistant and I discussed another type of injection they could try. I told him I would be willing to try it, even though all other injections had only made my pain worse. He told me Burkey could perform the injection, and scheduled me to meet with him the following month (yesterday). He also changed my prescription from pill form to a pain patch, which was fine with me. I had no problems trying something new, as I was (am) desperate for a resolution to my pain. After some issues with my insurance, I was able to obtain the patch - but I was only able to wear it a couple of days. I had a lot of discomfort with it; it turned my arm very red, it swelled at the application site, it itched, and the medication kept me awake. I had to take it off. When I had my next appointment with Burkey, I explained that the patch wasn't for me, and told him the reaction I had had to the patch. He became irate and asked very snidely, "Well, what's going to work for you??" I told him I didn't know - that's why I was there! He then said, "I'll tell you what I think - I think you're just here for the oxycodone." I sat there for a second, unable to believe what I just heard! Then I simply reached over and picked up my purse and began to leave. He kept at me, saying, "Yep, get out of here, I'm not going to just pump you with pills and have you report that nothing is working just so you can come in here and get more..." I told him I was there for pain relief, not PILLS. I told him I didn't want another prescription; I had been scheduled to discuss another option with him. He continued berating me and accusing me, even as I was exiting the clinic, yelling at me in front of other patients in the room. I told the receptionist how unprofessional this "doctor" was, and that he was accusing me of things of which he had no proof, nor any reason to suspect what he was accusing me of...she just sat there with her mouth open, while Burkey continued ranting at me, saying he had no solutions for me, because all I wanted was more medication. None of it was true - and he even had read in the notes they had taken on me (inaccurate information, but...) that I had reported the medication was ineffective. I had never reported this, but this is what he claimed I had said and they had recorded it in my file. Anyway, I am obviously not returning to this childish, egotistical prick. I highly suggest to anyone considering seeing this man that they turn and run the other way. Better to live with pain than subject yourself to this man's tirades and false accusations. I am pursuing this with the medical board, and any other avenue available to file complaints against this "man". He doesn't even deserve that title, let alone one of "doctor".

This Dr. (doesn't even deserve that title) is the worst healthcare professional I have ever met. Extremely unprofessional, very irate, highly egotistical, no compassion for his patients and a huge unethical/judgmental chip on his shoulder. Will show no disregard or compassion to your health condition and make you feel like a piece of trash before he is done spilling his "my way or its the highway" spill. Do not see this disgrace of a human being, you have been warned!
