i've had to deal with Dr Dave for more than three years now, because he's the only rheumatologist in my family members' insurance plan that services our area. he is by far the worst-behaved medical professional i have ever encountered, and i don't recommend anyone seeing him unless they absolutely have no other choice.
My initial consultation with Dr Dave was sub-par. He is part of a prestigious autoimmune clinic & so I thought it was a good move. Wrong. Good rheumatologists, particularly on an initial consultation, ask lots of questions, do a thorough intake on body systems that could be involved & do a thorough history. Dr Dave spent his time telling me what I didn’t have (as if this rare disease has a black and white, 100% accurate diagnosis tree, it doesn’t), spent time telling me more untruths related to medication (which PubMed confirms), he didn’t listen but, rather, was clearly planning what he was going to say before I finished speaking. Doctors need to wake up to the fact that medical journals, publications, studies, disease foundations and crowd sourcing are real & that many patients with rare disorders have higher expectations than your older population. Dr Dave is a great example of a young doctor who thinks he knows everything about an extremely rare disease, one that is exceptionally difficult to diagnose and treat, and purports that a diagnosis can be made exclusively by either his eyes or bloodwork, neither of which are true. After my appointment, I went back to my rare disease FB group and, upset and gaslighted, I quoted him on some of his statements. No less than 50 fellow patients concurred that Dr Dave was just wrong, false, incorrect or poorly educated, based upon his comments. Sadly, Dr Dave is actually named, and recommended, by a rare disorder society. I hope that my experience can help other patients make a better decision about their rheumatology care.
Dr. Dave listens and has compassion. He is very thorough
Knowledgeable and Caring. Takes the time to explain the complexities of illness and treatment. Despite the fact that the system he works within can be inefficient, he always delivers great care. He's a healer with heart.
Hard to believe anyone has found him "dismissive". I just had my first visit and he seems extremely knowledgeable about my condition (Sjogren's), was thorough, clear and kind. We arrived very early and they saw us early to get us on the road home before a big snowstorm hit.
Dismissed me as it having an autoimmune condition, told me I had chronic pain and fibromyalgia. I begged him for help Tim’s and time again and he would only send me to a Physical Pain and are had doctor. Turns out and confirmed by ultrasound, I have acquired atrophic thyroid and Thyroid cancer. He was the first rheumatologist I saw and because he dismissed me others did not take me seriously. This delayed my diagnosis by 5 years! Stay AWAY from him and stay AWAY from Virginia Mason.
Dismissive.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
