List of Daniel Schwartz's Reviews
My being in need of a second shoulder replacement, took me to Dr. Daniel G. Schwartz from the Polyclinic who performed the operation at the Swedish Orthopedic Institute in Seattle. My second shoulder replacement has turned out to have such a better outcome than my first which was April 2021, even though both were with respected shoulder specialist & hospitals. Dr. Schwartz's approach was to have a more in-depth look into the condition of my shoulder & then to plan out ahead what would need to be done. He was able to give me that view & understanding early in my considerations which was a help for me in making a decision on who to go with & when. Since he uses the Swedish Orthopedic Institute to operate, I found out also how they compared to the other local hospital. The first surgery was done just at the beginning of Covid 19, so at that time the hospital was full staffed & I felt pampered. But due to how policies during Covid 19 have diminished all hospital staff, I can't hold that difference/lack against Swedish Orthopedic. One thing that took place at Swedish that did not happen at the previous hospital was their pain management process. I was discharged with a pain pump/non mechanical that lasted about 4-5 days. I think it was because of that & the hands & plan of Dr. Schwartz that my pain level was significantly lower over those first days than with the first surgery. Plus, I did not need to take the quantity of opioids that were necessary with prior surgery & was able to get off them all together sooner than before. If you need shoulder surgery, I can't recommend high enough to consider Dr. Daniel G. Schwartz who was with the Polyclinic in Seattle but does his surgeries at Swedish Orthopedic. He even called me at home after I was discharged that first day to see how I was doing, and that did not happen with my first surgery with a different local doctor. So, Thank You Dr. Schwartz & Swedish Orthopedic for making a surgery that I really did not want to go so well. My physical therapy is progressing well enough so at the post op visit with Dr. Schwartz he thought it was a reasonable goal for me to look at the possibility of going cross country skiing by February, 3 months after surgery. That is pretty remarkable considering I am a 71-year-old male, but I am overjoyed. Check out Dr. Schwartz for any shoulder surgeries you may need. I don't think you will be disappointed.
I had my right shoulder repaired after falling off a mountain. He was amazing! I have full function. He just repaired my left shoulder a week ago. I'm in pain, but I know that will improve over time. Dr. Schwartz took the time to explain everything, so I could understand the procedures. I have referred many people to him.
Fantastic doctor and care team. I fell off a mountain a few years ago, and Dr. Schwartz repaired my rotator cuff and fractured humerus. I was back to normal within months!! I fell again, and the only orthopedist I would ever see is Dr. Schwartz. He repaired my shoulder and removed a non healing clavicle a week ago. He calls me at home to make sure I am doing well. Being a senior citizen, this is very helpful and makes me feel cared for. I'm in pain, but I know that will get better as will my shoulder.
In 2017, I had major rotator cuff surgery to repair every tendon in my left shoulder. Considered one of the best shoulder doctors in the Northwest, Dr. Schwartz gave me a frank and candid assessment of my injury, the surgical repair procedure, and a true picture of my post-operative rehab process. My rotator cuff surgery was a total success and 6 months post-surgery I was back to doing my favorite activities of kitesurfing, biking, gardening, and practicing my yoga. So, in August 2021, I knew who to contact to assess an injury to my right shoulder. After reviewing the X-rays and MRI images, Dr. Schwartz's expert opinion was that my shoulder was so damaged that it could not be repaired. It could however, be replaced. The surgery took 45 minutes, with little post-op pain; I have a small scar, and in 4-6 months I should be fully healed and resuming my favorite activities. There is not enough praise for and thanks to Dr. Schwartz for performing such an amazing surgical procedure. The quality of professional and expert care by him, by Melissa his RN, and his surgical team was exceptional throughout the entire process of diagnosing and surgically replacing my worn out shoulder. Appointments were on time, COVID and health protocols were in place and observed, and all questions, concerns, needs were timely addressed with courtesy and clarity.
Dr. Schwartz and his team are amazing! I recently decided to have Dr. Schwartz operate on me to fix my torn rotator cuff. Before seeing him, I went to two other highly recommended shoulder surgeons in the Seattle area and chose Dr. Schwartz because of the techniques he explained to me and the research I did on his training. I am sure glad I did! I am 3 weeks after my surgery and my shoulder is doing great. I had no pain at all after surgery with only a couple of little, tiny incisions where he operated on me. I kept hearing the term minimally invasive in my research and that is how I would explain my surgery. Additionally, he and his team were ultra-professional, took a ton of time with me, and never made me feel rushed or talked down to me like one of the other surgeons I spoke with. If you need a good surgeon to fix your rotator cuff, I think Dr. Schwartz is the man.
My primary care doctor referred me to Dr. Schwartz to review options for the intense pain I was experiencing in my right shoulder. I immediately felt at ease with Dr. Schwartz and his assistant. Dr. Schwartz explained that physical therapy might be an effective alternative to surgery for the tear in my bicep tendon and what appeared to be a possible rotator cuff injury. He clearly left the decision to me on which course of treatment to pursue. Knowing that the bicep tear would eventually need to be repaired, I chose surgery. After surgery, Dr. Schwartz took time with my wife and me to show and clearly explain video highlights of what he had done during surgery. I have had many surgeries, but no surgeon has ever taken as much time as he did to explain, much less show, what took place during surgery. Five months later I can say that I am extremely satisfied with the results. If you are having shoulder problems, I highly recommend Dr. Schwartz!

Dr Schwartz did such a good job on my torn labrum that my Physical Therapist told me I ought to buy my surgeon a gift - it was the smoothest Bankhart repair recovery she's seen in her career. He made me feel comfortable, answered all my many questions, and was extremely accommodating of my tattoo by making sure to cut around it during the operation. The person who does the intake for him is very professional + courteous. The surgery center he had me in (Seattle Surgery Center) was much more comfortable and the staff more attentive than the one I had gone to for my previous unrelated surgery. I remember the nurse, the anesthesiologist, and his assistant were pretty funny but that may have been the drugs kicking in.He showed me a video of the operation afterward which was really neat and I regret not asking for a copy. He even showed up early to our first post-COVID Zoom checkup.I can only speak from experience, but if you have a torn labrum and are in the Seattle area please do yourself a favor and see Dr. Schwartz.Thank you so much Dr. Schwartz!
Big Fan! Dr. Schwartz diagnosed my labrum tear quickly. We agreed I needed shoulder surgery so I could back to doing CrossFit. Surgery was delayed due to COVID and in that time my tear expanded. Day of surgery I mentioned my pain had gotten worse. He assessed it & told me he would take a look during surgery to fix it up. And he did! He did incredible work. My shoulders range of motion has been 6 weeks ahead of schedule. With physical therapy I have started lifting weights again 2.5 months post op. I recommended Dr. Schwartz to my neighbor because I had such a good experience. He has a dry sense of humor which might not be everyone's cup of tea but I thought he was funny & he did great work.
I had a great visit with him. We reviewed my complex surgical history and multiple previous shoulder surgeries that were done elsewhere. He was awesome at explaining, and I felt at ease. For now, we are doing nothing, but we have a plan for the future should we be forced too! I enjoyed his frankness, and honesty!
