My experience with Dr.Chang ended up matching his negative reviews, with additional surprises. He made unsolicited transphobic comments for some reason. I gave him an opportunity to reword his statements, and he stuck by them. He briefly looked at some of my skin issues from afar, and came up with a single explanation. He said that all of my (different) skin diagnoses can be blamed on depression, and that I should fix that. For many reasons that is incorrect, unethical, and extremely unprofessional. He told me my PCP’s advice was incorrect up to this point, however offered no solutions. My experience with Dr.Chang ended up matching his negative reviews, with additional surprises. The doctor is very nice, so is the receptionist. Doctor speaks Chinese and provides great discount with the RX.
Went into confirm a possible cyst on my shoulder and if so, remove it. When I got there, he told me it was but he couldn’t do it. Basically I paid them for him to tell me it was a cyst when I wanted to get it removed. Fast forward I go to my primary physician at UW medical and even she was baffled why he wouldn’t do it when it was such an easy procedure. She said he should’ve done it. Absolute waste of time and money coming to this guy. Went into confirm a possible cyst on my shoulder and if so, remove it. When I got there, he told me it was but he couldn’t do it. A very experienced doctor for skin related issues. I trust his method of medication. Had severe acne that had disfigured my entire face. The results are visible after just 3 months of following his advise. I highly recommend him!
I was really disappointed in his treatment. I came with a variety of issues and felt that every issue i brought up was met with a response as if my issues were not a big deal -- if this was true, i wouldn't have come. Prior to coming, I spent months talking to my primary physician and him referring me to a dermatologist was a last resort. Yet I left with no new piece of advice nor reassurance nor anything but discontent -- "Just keep using the same product in the same manner you've been using it" is not helpful when the products I've been using have NOT been helping (acne) for over a year now. ^he did ask how i was using the creams, and when i started to answer he cut me off telling me how i SHOULD be using them (which is to a T how I've been using them already... Other issues that I mentioned were met with "well yeah we could treat that but it's only cosmetic" but THATS why I'm here. (I actually teared up after that reply because i just felt so defeated.) In the end I didn't even mention all of my issues because I just felt like he thought I was being dramatic with my concerns. Will definitely not becoming back; this was my first time visiting a dermatologist, and I don't see myself going to Any other in fear that I'll be dismissed again. Lost confidence. :/ I was really disappointed in his treatment. I had severe facial acne, which started very abruptly. My entire face was scared. Dr. Chang was very patient in listening to my problem and started the medication. Within 3 months, my skin returned to its usual tone. I thought I had disfigured my face for life. But, regular follow-ups with him and continuing with the medication very promptly has done wonders. I would highly recommend him for any skin-related issues. Most skin problems need long-term care. So, I see why some of them have left negative reviews here. Be patient and follow the instructions Dr. Chang offers, and you will be cured forever. His treatment does not make the skin problems to reappear, which is the fact in most cases.
I've been seeing Dr. Chang for more than a decade now. I'm Asian and have very sensitive skin. Roughly 2-3 times a year I break out in hives or have some kind of acute dermatitis or urticaria that's really bothersome requiring a visit to his office. Dr. Chang always prescribes a treatment that fixes the problem in a few days. He also does my annual skin cancer checks and has removed moles. His office manager Diane is super warm and nice too. The insurance and billing is straightforward. I've been a patient in the past at Virginia Mason or Swedish at their Asthma-Allergy clinics, but I felt like they were less interested in skin issues and more focused on cosmetic procedures like Botox injections or laser treatments. Dr. Chang's practice is a no-frills looking office (nothing wrong with that!), but what counts is that he is good at identifying the source of my skin problems and prescribing an effective and speedy course of treatment. Also, I can usually get an appointment the same day or the next day, which is a godsend when your skin is on fire, itchy and full of welts! I've been seeing Dr. Chang for more than a decade now. Dr. Chang is a very good dermatologist and really knows his stuff. I've got psoriatic arthritis among other challenges with my skin and he always knows the best treatment to help alleviate my conditions. He cares deeply about providing the right treatment for his patients not necessarily the popular treatment. Dr. Chang is quiet but he's fantastic! I would highly recommend his work. Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
