Karen Bhaskar's Online Review Report Card

The doctor may be excellent, but the people they have as assistants are worse than terrible. (See written explanation below.) Every single time I had an appointment I was called by a woman from their clinic telling me I needed a referral. I just had eye surgery, referrals are good for a year. I tried to get this person’s name to file a complaint and was told they did not know who could have called me. I also was bullied by a young assistant there stating I could not have an eyeglass prescription unless I handed over 100. in cash. And…. it took months for this same assistant to refill my Restasis prescription for dry eyes. At my last appointment on May 8, I was left in an examination room for close to an hour with no explanation as to why. This is when I decided to leave and never come back. I would consider all of the above elder abuse. The bottom line is if you do not have good insurance this is how you are treated. I have United Healthcare through Medicare. I also have two vertical lines on my face from the cataract surgery that look like they are permanent scars. I do not think I would have agreed to surgery if I would have known it would scar my face permanently. The lines go all the way from my inner eye to my nostrils, pretty disfiguring and should not have happened. Find another doctor for your eye care, don’t go here, you’ll regret it!

I felt very comfortable with her bedside manner and her level of expertise. I've generally had very good care with Polyclinic doctors and Dr. Bhaskar is no different.

Excellent. Dr. Bhaskar performed my cataract surgery two years ago and I continue to see her for annual vision care. She is so professional and patient, and thoughtfully addresses all my questions and concerns. She is a highly skilled surgeon and caring physician.

Apparently, Dr. Bhaskar is a good surgeon but is affectless and avoidant as a communicator. She doesn't listen. I had to interrupt her to tell her what I look at all day and what I hope to improve. After surgery had to push her hard to explain adverse effects and point out discrepancies between what she told me and the FDA lens insert (they were approved in 2020) to look at my eye and find "scarring" which she "could try to fix" with a laser. If only I had seen the FDA info before surgery. Laser treatment will make any subsequent surgery much more risky. I will not go back to Polyclinic opthamology. For monofocal implant, she'd be fine. For anything more complicated, go elsewhere or bring an expert with you.

Dr Bashkar performed my cataract surgery in both eyes last year. I had absolutely no problems with her care, my surgery and my post operative appointments. I have returned for laser treatment of scar tissue this year and have 20/20 vision afterwards. She listened to my concerns and even contacted and conversed with my neurologist when I reported symptoms that could be a return of a neurological issue. I have made an appointment for my husband to see her as he is developing vision issues recently.

Dr. Bhaskar has an excellent professional skills, always has a time to explain everything to the patient, great surgeon!

My multi-hour appointment with Dr. Bhaskar was so bad that I’m seriously considering having the exam repeated by another ophthalmologist. She didn’t seem to be listening to me, in a field that’s heavily reliant upon patient input. She absolutely dismissed my medical concerns (the primary reason I had been referred to her), and, frankly, seemed pretty hostile to both me and her staff. Also: be prepared to spend hours there, and booking weeks in advance doesn’t prevent being bumped.

Wow, what a bad experience this was! For starters, a basic eye exam took over 3 hours — that’s just poor office management. 90% of the tests were done by a technician, not the doctor, and then the doctor just dismissed what the tech had done. She put factually incorrect data into my chart, claiming that I had contradicted myself when she just hadn’t been listening. I’m seriously considering having the tests repeated by another eye doctor — she was that bad.

Best eye doctor I have visited. Recommend without reservation
