Personable professional and pleasant
The worst doctor and office ever. I was charged outrageous bills when it could've been avoided through a program (either he's uneducated and didn't know or he's money hungry). Because of this, I have been inconsistent with the medication I've been on for a while. They don't care about your well-being here and they are in fact the worst when it comes to labs. The lab person is great but the process to get there is horrid. SO UPSET. Im going to go through the court to resolve these bills and fight for time lost/etc.
This was my first visit with Dr. McCabe. He had been recommended by a friend. He asked good questions, understood my issues, explained the possible causes and laid out a treatment plan. I recommend him.
My husband (in his 60’s) asked Dr McCabe about getting a PSA test to screen for Prostate Cancer. Dr McCabe told my husband that he didn’t recommend it although many reputable organizations do. Fast forward a few years…after suffering backaches my husband saw a different doctor who ordered a PSA test to rule out Prostate Cancer as the cause. His PSA was elevated. After MRIs and biopsies he was treated for prostate cancer. We both wish he’d never listened to Dr McCabe. It’s been a nightmare. I thought medical doctors were supposed to follow testing recommendations.
He’s a good doctor. I’ve been getting regular checkups for years with him. Very pragmatic. If you’re a young healthy adult he will make sure you’re still as healthy as you can be.
I have been seeing Dr. McCabe now for almost a decade and I've never had as good of a doctor as him. He keeps things moving - you get in on time (remarkably fast, often the nurse is ready to bring you back before you've left the check in counter). He does a really good observational assessment while he listens to you talk. He observed things that other doctors have never mentioned that were off topic for what had brought me in that day, and made appropriate recommendations as to what my next steps should be based on those observations. So while he moves fast, he has excellent attention to detail and sees the big picture. He's extremely supportive with those who suffer anxiety and phobias. I had a severe needle-phobia the majority of time I worked with him, and he never took a stance that other doctor's I've seen had, where they claim "but you've never tried my shots! surely I can do it where others have failed". Instead, he worked around it and respected my boundaries. This gave me the trust I needed in a medical provider to ultimately conquer my fear (at the ripe old age of 38) and his nurses are excellent in delivering those shots in a way that's respectful to my needs as I worked my way through it. I like Dr. McCabe so much that I kept him as my PCP while I moved to Boston for two years, and have continued to work with him now after moving to Olympia - he's worth the drive. And if that's not enough that's great about him, you should see his super cool eyeglasses collection. Every time I see him he's wearing a cooler pair than the previous time. He's a cool dude, very calm, very smart and very observant. You may move fast through the exams, but he definitely sees you.
I’m 34, and in my adult life, Dr McCabe is one of two doctors that I can say I’ve been truly happy with. Not saying that the others were terrible or anything, but primary care doctors are about competency, trust and relationship, and I’m happy with all three phases.
Dr. McCabe has been my primary care doctor for 4-5 years and I've always had a good experience. He provides good advice, listens, and takes his time with the patient. Highly recommend.
He made multiple mistakes when ordering tests. In my opinion, he was judgemental and not LGBT friendly. He did not consider previous conversations related to my issues (private), and kept rambling about how I am bad for the world. Made me feel terrible and unsafe! I am glad I fired him as my primary care, and am glad he got kicked out of the clinic I saw him at as I received a letter that he will no longer be at that location anymore. Not recommended at all!
I felt judged and unsafe under Dr. MaCabe's supervision. My past history and conversations were ignored and not taken into consideration. I was looking for someone who is LGBT friendly. Sadly, was made to feel terrible about my life choices. He has also made multiple mistakes when ordering lab tests.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
