Patrizia Showell's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Showell is an excellent doctor. She asks many questions and always takes care of my medical problems. She refers me to a specialist if needed but usually she can solve my medical issues. I have been lucky to have her as my doctor for many years.

Dismissive, cold, horrible bedside manner. I have been seeing her for 15 years, and she has never made me feel heard or cared for. It's clear that her bottom line is crossing t's and dotting i's, not the patient. I don't know why I stayed with her for so long. Any time I brought up an issue, she made me feel defensive. What a waste of time. Also, she has gone through more assistants that I could ever keep track of. That says a lot.

I am shocked by the reviews that are so negative. I have been Dr. Showell's patient for over 10 years. She has been there for me through ups and downs with my health and weight. She doesn't sugarcoat things but she is not cruel. She has been beyond helpful to me and I can't imagine seeing anyone else for my care.

The reviews I see here shock me. I truly appreciate Dr. Showell. I have been to a lot of doctors over the years and I'm happy to have found her. I have seen her a pretty considerable number of times over the past 4 years. She isn't warm and fuzzy (neither and I)( but she is friendly and cares. I am a professional woman who appreciates straight talk. She gives me that. She is also willing to dig into my issues and work with me on medications, problem solving, and making referrals when needed. She is also very quick to answer any messages, has encouraged me to contact her if needed, and has even responded to my inquiries in the evening in the past. I have also referred a close friend to her. I was really surprised to see so many negative reviews here and on Yelp. People are remarking on her demeanor a lot. I get that a lot in my job as well. I don't know, maybe people think that women who tell it like it is, do a good job, do not waste time, and don't want to hug you all the time are cold and uncaring -- if that's the case, it is their loss. I am 100% happy with Dr. Showell.

Zero stars. Note that the positive reviews here focus on efficiency? Because this doctor does not care and does not listen. And that doesn't take much time. My last appointment ended four minutes after it began with no recommendation whatsoever for treatment. In my opinion, she made a snap judgment based on her own biases that could have had serious consequences for my health. Luckily, I persevered and went to urgent care In Polyclinic where the staff actually listened and observed and HELPED. I've seen hundreds of doctors in my lifetime, but never have I encountered someone who seems to care less than this "doctor".

Run, don't walk from this provider. She is neither caring nor competent. I have never experienced a medical provider whom I felt obliged to negatively review. She is cold, dismissive and missed a serious condition in me. Had I taken Dr. Showell's advice I may have ended up with a catastrophic condition. You can do better.

She doesn't seem willing to work with her patients at all. For example if you want a referral to a specialist for acne (which most people you have) she wants to evaluate you first and several times before she will let you go to a dermatologist. She tried several times to pressure me into exams I didn't want or need. I would recommend picking a different doctor. Update: I was just sent a bill for $30 even thought I haven't seen this provider in over a year. This is absolutely ridiculous.

I’ve only seen this doctor a handful of times, but she listened and asked questions, then quickly (and correctly!) identified the problem and solution. I’ve recommended her *because* she is no nonsense and seems to know her field thoroughly. “Brusque” does not bother me.

I honestly can't fathom these reviews. I've been seeing Dr. Showell as my PCP for at least 8 years. She has always listened carefully, provided excellent, coordinated care (*and* is thoughtful about prescription costs). She has a very professional manner - you won't confuse her with your therapist or best friend. And that's OK, folks, because your therapist and best friends can fill those roles. Dr. Showell is a highly competent and responsive internist, which is *exactly* what you want in an internist.
