List of Barry J Perlman Md's Reviews
Great doctor, great experience. I needed to get a colonoscopy and my primary care physician recommended Dr. Pearlman - and I'm glad he did. He is kind, knowledgable and experienced. What more can one ask for? The procedure went beautifully and the process -from booking the initial appointment, to scheduling the procedure, to follow up questions, to day-of...all worked out easily. And, his Office Manager Sherry is wonderful. She confirmed the appointments, answered all my questions and returned my calls.
One of the most unfortunate medical encounters I ever had. Time for him to retire
I understand everyone has their own unique experiences and perceptions when it comes to doctors and pretty much anything. But I need to say I do not understand the poor reviews for Dr. Pearlman. In my initial consultation he was extremely intelliegent and well informed, took his time to explain my options, and very polite. I felt confident, if a little anxious, going in for my procedure and was glad to have someone so experienced perform the procedure. Sad to know he is retiring but wish him nothing but long life and happiness in his future endeavors.
the worst doctor I ever visited in la .don't waist your time .his secretary is horrible and he is the worst cc
The doc got rid of Roxanne and got a new assistant. Everything is how it should be and even better. He's been in business for a long time and although he moves a lot I can deal with it. It's am honest practice he runs and I hope to be under his care for a long time. Thanks doc you saved my life.
All these 1 star reviews aren't for Dr. Pearlman, they're for someone named Roxanne so they are irrelevant.I have visited Dr. Pearlman 3 times over the course of about 8 years and every time has been amazing. He has been articulate, thorough in his exams and gave me options and information on how best to proceed with my medical care. He's prompt, has all the time in the world for you if you have questions and he informs you of the current medical opinions surrounding your question, followed by his recommended plan of action - and that's what I want in a healthcare professional. I like when a doctor distills the information specific to my situation and allows me to participate rather than simply telling me what to do. This kind of empathy and patience goes a very long way in my opinion.
I can honestly say I really like Roxanne she is very efficient and no matter what I ask for I am confident it will get done. She is a sweetheart.
Dr. Pearlman was excellent. It's so funny but I had the same experience about Roxanna when I talked her on the phone initially. I even got off the phone and started writing a note to Dr. Pearlman complaining about her then I put it aside and thought I'd sit on it for a day or two. I decided not to send it. ROXANA IS ACTUALLY VERY SWEET AND NICE. When I went into the office Roxanna couldn't have been nicer! I was running late I had expected her to give me a hard time about it but she didn't. I thought she was lovely soft-spoken and was very nice to me. I was so surprised because it's not what I had expected. So I guess the offices so busy that maybe it brings out that kind of brusque rough quality but give her a chance because she's really really sweet and I was really pleased with how she treated me in the office.
I got a referral from my doctor to see Dr. Pearlman, who I am sure is a great doctor. When I called to book my appointment however, I was less than enthused. My convo with his awful and looks like famously lazy secretary went something like this. Me: "Hi I am a patient of Dr. Kurtz, I received a referral and ..." Roxanne: (she cut me off while I was speaking) " Is this for a new patient?"Me: "... I am a patient of lyle kurtz.. I got a referral!" (assuming she would LISTEN this time)Roxanne: " WELL YOU DON'T NEED A REFERRAL" Me: "... yes, I am a patient of Dr. Kurtz. I would like to make an appointment please. and YES I AM a new patient."Roxanne: " okay." (silence)Me: (waiting) (silence) Roxanne: "hold on"Me: "ok no problem" (waiting...silence) (more waiting) AFTER TWO MINUTES Roxanne: " okay name?" - blah blah we go through the whole name phone number etc thing. Without a hitch. Lovely, things are looking up for good ol' Roxanne! - She is about to let me go and I decide to ask (reluctantly) if she happens to know the hight of the parking structure as I drive a lifted vehicle, she just answers me with..Roxanne: " oh.. hmm.. no... yeah no.. " She is lazy, rude, and clearly an idiot. I will go once and give the doctor a chance but she is making it awful hard for this poor man to have a thriving business. Maybe ill bring her a card that says - "sorry" on the front, and on the inside perhaps it will read " that you are an ignorant lazy fool".

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
